Random Preggy question?

Okay, so i was wondering something... for all the sisters with little legacies... did you have morning sickness before or after the 12 week?

The back story...

I have had a really good 12 weeks. Very little 'ms' just tired and hungery. So Saturday was 12 weeks mark and I've been sick ever since. So I'm thinking I'm having a legacy because the hormones are suppose to kick in for "it" this week and I've heard that women having girls are more sick b/c of the extra hormones... what do you all think?

We won't find out for another month and half but this is just something I keep wondering about.

after, honey.... after.

Ginger helps a lot. As does eating something before you even get out of bed. Keep a little something in your stomach at all times.

It will get better!

And yes - 2 girls. Sick with both. Was easier to handle the 2nd time around, though, but still not fun. There are things to this day that I still won't eat.

for me it was the other way around.....5 spawnlings.

Two females and three males. Sicker than a dog with all five the whole of the gestation...only hospitalized with hyperemesis with the sons.

I know I am NOT the norm.

(crash)

from the unofficial GC Pregnancy Queen:

My first 3 were girls and I was pretty sick with them. With the next 5, I wasn't sick at all--2 boys, 1 girl, then 2 more boys. But--I learned after a miscarriage between the first 3 and the last 5 that you should be glad of morning sickness as long as it isn't serious because it usually indicates that the pregnancy is still going strong. When my sickness stopped abruptly during that pregnancy, I should have realized right off that something was wrong.

(end crash)

If you are queen, I will take the first runner up. If it hadn't been for having CSections....we would have had a few more . My experience with miscarriages (yes many) sounds identical. LOTS of icky, suddenly none.

Aren't you glad you asked?!!!!! HA...there is so much 'advice' we can bestow upon you that you will NEVER decipher it all! This is the real-life version of 8 pregnancy books.

I called my ailment the all-day-wish-I-could's. All day, every day, with #2 especially, I would just feel like I'd feel better if I could only vomit. Well--several great friends/sisters informed me that I should be glad I only felt like it because if it's true 'morning' sickness that it'll only come right back!

Soda or other non-descript crackers and something you like to drink that's reasonably bland are your friends. I kept soda crackers next to the bed and ate 1 before even rolling over--which is a joke unto itself later in the pregnancy. Ginger tea (Whole Foods, etc, sells some neat ones) and peppermint worked well for me.

We're here for ya, babe. But keep the excitement of that beautiful baby as the end result of anything that you may get queasy about. All three of mine are 'perfect' in their own way and I can honestly say that motherhood is the best--on nearly every topic--thing I've ever done. My husband and I LOVE being parents! God has been good to us...

Okay thanks ladies... I appreciate it all! Apparently it was only a growth spurt because I've been much better as the week as gone along. Except for yesterday when I spent the day sleeping on the couch (thanks to the ice!) and had a few moments of unease... but I think that was due to just sleeping too much and not moving around after eating a little. (I was very lazy).

I'll be use to check back if I have any additional questions.

another crash...

that should have been the hint that something was going wrong with my pregnancy.

I had NO sickness whatsoever...it was a long while before I had any symptoms

end crash

Is it a legacy or not???

Okay so here is a fun game... you have a 50/50 chance of winning...

Let's play... Guess what I'm having!!!!

So here are your clues and you can make a guess as to whether it's a future Alpha Gam Pearl or future Alpha Gam Man!

I had very little morning sickness, craved chips and fries, steaks and watermelon, the heartbeat has been about 158, I'm carrying low but gained most of my weight in my hips, the draino didn't turn blue or brown, and the ring circled around.

So is this enough to make you think??? If you need more tells... I'll give you two or three more...

I haven't been able to wear my wedding rings since February, my leg hair hasn't changed it's growth rate, and I've had some interesting places for acne to pop up. (These were the gross ones.)

(All of these "hints" are "old wives tells" tellings... not just random points of interest!)

I'll guess girl, because of carrying low and gaining the weight in the hips. That's how I carried my girl. My boy was high and all up front.

I have to guess girl... just cause I have 2 - and I "think" that heart rate was around what you said. But geez, it has been awhile, and it is amazing how quickly one can forget these old wives tales!

You're having a...

BABY! And likely a very healthy one! I wouldn't have guessed for any amount of money that Holly was a girl until the day of the sonogram . After 2 boys, who knew. Got more sick with each pregnancy, so that wasn't necessarily a hint.
Don't eat Apple Jacks just before an appointment--it makes all kinds of things go out of whack (not to mention your glucose test!). Until you SEE the screen of the sonogram, it's all guesswork, even if there are 'indicators'. Everything pointed to #2 being a girl with said indicators, and let me assure you he's a 10-y-o ALL boy!
Enjoy the pregnancy! It's a marvelous time! Really--if I could have had more, I would have.
