Colony News
Icelandelf has agreed to keep us posted on the UT-SA colony this fall. Any Gamma Phis who are going to be working with the TCU colony? I'd love to hear what's happening with them . . .and looking ahead to the spring, any GA G Phi Bs working with KSU?

I'll be working with the TCU colony! We have a "house shower" planned for July 8, where we will be bringing general house supplies and stuff. This will be the first meeting of the advisory board and I am excited about this. I'll keep all informed as we move ahead.

TCU is in the process of refurbishing one of the units that was formerly used for general housing. All the sororities and fraternities are in one area, in dorm-type units. It will probably not be completed in time for rush in the fall, but should be done shortly after that. Our rush will be held the week after the other sororities. Evidently, there are lots of out of state girls who come in for the last freshman orientation, so they don't have to go back home. This conflicts with rush week, so many don't go Greek at all. We hope to attract them, as well as others who may be interested in getting a new group started.

That's great! It's so nice to know that we will be on equal footing in the housing department. It's always tough to start up when you are competing against orgs. with big, beautiful houses.
So our recruitment will be in late August or early September? Is the SMU chapter helping out?

I don't have the recruitment dates yet, but I seem to recall it's in late Aug. I'm sure the SMU chapter will be helping , as well as the Texas Wesleyan chapter.

I can't wait to hear about all these expansions. Gamma Phi is on a roll! I can't believe we are doing so many all at once. Very exciting!

Target'
tinydancer - has the house corp. thought about registering at say, Target or the like, for things the house needs? I know a chapter that lost their house in a tornado did that and had a virtual house warming - alumnae could buy things on the registry for the house! Just a thought!

Yes! That's exactly what we did. We are registered at Target and are also encouraging gift cards from there for those who can't attend the actual "house shower."

I emailed Amy Apostol (RD3) for some info about UTSA (also because there are many San Antonio alums who are very excited about helping out). I got this response from Fran Lapham today--
Quote:
I know there are tons of enthusiastic alumnae in the state of Texas who are wanting more information about our upcoming extensions...I love the energy!!
As a result of our leadership conference, we decided we would do a newsletter type of thing regarding TCU & UTSA. We plan to put them out three times - once in the upcoming 1-2 weeks, once at the beginning of Sept/mid Sept and once post extension.
We are ahead of the game with regards to planning and now we're ready to start sharing some of the specifics and the needs from the local alumnae.
What a great time to be a Gamma Phi

I'm really excited about this!!!

i'll be helping with the UTSA recruitment and possibly other things as they come up. I'm an RC for the region and we are all so excited about the growth! Their recruitment will be October 8-12, with bid day on the 13th.
The newsletter that Fran and her crew is working on will have information on who to send information to for recs. Both chapters will need a lot of help getting names of potential women, so keep an eye out for them! Since it's a colonization, women from freshman to seniors are needed.
The Kennesaw colonization does not have a whole lot finalized since that is not until spring 2008.
