Living in the house
I'm moving into the Pink Palace in August and was wondering if anyone who's ever lived in their chapter houses has any advice? It's a two bedroom setup (two bedrooms, a common area, and one bathroom) for 4 girls. In the house there are 15 rooms, with 60 girls total. I'm living with my best friends in the world...but my first year (last year) I moved into an apt. with one of my best friends from high school and it didn't work out...partly due to the fact that she resented that I was never around b/c I was always with my sisters (so ha ha, that won't be a problem this time around)...anyway, tips on how to successfully live with your sisters? If it works out a bunch of us are gonna live in a house together off-campus our junior year and throw the first sorority late night ever!

Well, the only piece of advice I can give is to get out of the house from time to time. I know I became so busy being VP Social and dealing with classes that I was almost always locked up in my room working! Sometimes it can be stressful living with the same people day in and day out so it's nice to get out with different people from time to time. I hope you enjoy living in the house! I tell you it's the best feeling to walk through the door and feel like you've walked into your home! *sniff* Makes me miss my house and my sisters.

I'm really excited to be living in the house for the first time this fall also! I ate my meals there second semester and it will be so much nicer not to have to walk down W. Hampton for dinner! I can't wait to live with all the IN Gamma girls, especially you Erin!

Jess

Rowdy, I was in a similar situation. My freshman year, I lived in the dorms with my good friend from HS. She wasn't a very social person and was very jealous of the time that I spent with my guy friends. Then this year, I lived with three of my sisters and it was the worst decision I ever made. It was if their bodies had been possessed by aliens over Christmas break and now I don't speak to them. My advice is: remember that when you're in you bedroom/living area, you're roommates...when you're outside of the house, you're sisters and friends. It's so easy for little things to blow out of proportion.

I lived with one of my sisters and it got to the point that I couldn't stand to be around her. It just got really irritating, especially when we would have a mandatory event and she would say she was sick or something and I KNEW that she had just gotten off the phone from planning to go out with her boyfriend or something. That always ticked me off.

At my school we don't have a house but more an all sorority dorm with designated wings for each org. and a chapter room. I lived there the past year, and the best advice I would say is to not forget you have other friends outside the sorority. While living there was fun, sometimes things got a little tense since we spent way too much time together between mandatory things, eating and living together.
While these awesome girls are your sisters, it all boils down to too much of a good thing can some times be bad.

Everyone should live in house at least one semester (I lived in for all 4 years). It is a great experience that I wouldn't trade for anything.

I loved living in our house! My best advice is to make sure you get enough sleep. It is so easy to be hanging out until 3 in the morning in the sisters' room.
I do agree with having non-sorority time as well. Unfortunately with all the good times, you are also in the middle of all the drama.
