I was there in Everett today, and it was very cool! Complete with red carpet
Tom Brokaw MCd, customers flew in from around the world, and they had live feeds to the major suppliers around the world (Japan, Italy, South Carolina and Wichita) so they could share in the presentation and excitement. They even had flight attendants from all the airline customers (so far) come out and help "present" the airplane. After VIPs described the new technology and improvements in comfort for passengers, the hangar doors parted and the plane was wheeled into view.
The 787 should be much more enjoyable to fly on for me, and I'm looking forward to riding on one someday. That is, if any of the American airlines buy some soon! I may have to fly international to experience it.
ETA: I guess a couple American airlines have orders in place after all - Continental and Northwest both have ordered 787s. Now I'm hoping Seattle-based Alaska Airlines buys some out of loyalty to its Washington base
