If recruitment's not till October and it's a small greek campus with no emphasis on recs then I wouldn't think time is a real issue. I would ask the people that gave you the contact info if the alumnae were given a heads up about this. If so I think a phone call, short letter or friendly email would be appropriate. I would leave email as the last resort because it's easy to ignore and some people could think it's "lazier" than a call or letter. If the women have not been given a heads up I would write a longer letter giving your resume and your contact info.
While it does sound like your anxiety is high you seem to me to be sincere. Just make sure you come off excited and not crazy. We wouldn't want you to end up in the nightmare rusee thread.
