joint event....uncooperative chapter

ok...so for the last three years my chapter and a neighbor chapter (of the same fraternity) have been throwing a big party together every year. the party has always been OUR party, but our neighboring chapter helps so we split the cost and profit 50/50...now, this year they have failed to cooperate as much as we have. My chapter has done all the contract negotiations with the club, the promotion at both universities and other nearby colleges, we had the presale tickets made as well as 5000 fliers printed, we got buses to take people to and from the club ($3,000 expense), we have been selling tickets and doing all the work. as the party nears by,in my opinion they do not deserve 50% of the profit since they seldom did any work. all they did was front $500 for reserving the club, but we did the negotiation and all the hard work. we (my chapter) do not know what to tell our bros. from this other chapter, we were thinking of proposing a 25/75 deal or cutting off completely, but that seems too hard...does anyone have an opinion on this or experienced something similar.

I think it is too late to demand a renegotiation of terms this year. Even if they didn't do as much work as you, they've gone into this thinking they were getting 50%. After this year's event is over, set up a committee made of an equal number of members from each chapter to have open discussion. If you've never asked them to do more work, they might not be aware of how much you all are putting into the project. If you can't come to an agreement on amount of work from each chapter and a splitting of profits, don't do the event as a joint event anymore.

Are you sure the "head honchos" in the other chapter know how much y'all are doing?

Or, they may "think" that y'all are on such a roll, they'll just sit back and let y'all do the work.

I agree, wait until the event is over and re-negotiate/define who does what.

One of the problems is that as new officers come in, they may not realize what they are expected to do.
