I think if he's doing that for you, I think he would know if it was wrong or not. I would go with it, and accept it as a gift from him.

maybe this varies from org to org and chapter to chapter, but i thought the chapters elected the "sweethearts"?

i could be wrong... or maybe that org/chapter does it differently. that's just how i've seen it elsewhere

According to my best friend, who's a TKE, they're pretty liberal with their letters.

tke.org:
Quote:
Badge
The official membership badge, made of either white or Roman gold and adorned with three white pearls, is by far the most important item of TKE insignia in general use. Only this badge may be worn by undergraduate members. Jeweled badges, crown set with pearls, diamonds, rubies or emeralds, according to choice, may be worn by alumni members. Frequently the standard membership badge is used as a token of engagement. Miniature badges are also available for mothers, sisters, or for engagement purposes. The TKE 'badge of gold', unique in its design and distinctiveness, has never been changed since its adoption. The meaning and connotations of the badge are revealed to members during initiation.
If he's calling the miniature badge the "sweetheart" badge, then it's "supposed" to symbolize engagement. Although, I wouldn't nessacarly go on that assumption, unless he specifically states that.

The chapter at which I was a SH did not allow letters to be worn, nor had a recogized SH program. It was a chapter thing, done outside of formal meetings, with an unofficial vote.
