hi everybody
i'm going to an informal rush next week. I wonder if the chapter houses will accept fewer members than what they did in formal rushes???
and can anybody tell me how many girls is each chapter house gonna accept as a sorority?

thanks.

It all depends on your school, but yes, sororities almost always bid fewer women during informal rush than during formal recruitment. The only exception to this would be if a chapter is far below total, but this is rare.

Nobody can give you exact numbers -- even if they knew what school you go to -- since there is no quota system for informal recruitment. A sorority doesn't have to take any set number of women during informal recruitment.

Don't be discouraged by the numbers though, even if a sorority bids fewer women during informal than formal recruitment, PNMs often find that informal recruitment events are lower pressure than formal recruitment. Many women feel that they are allowed to "shine" in a more relaxed environment than they would have with the craziness of formal recruitment parties. Have fun and good luck.

AChiOSnap is correct. Each chapter will take a different number of women. No one can really tell you how many because that is up to the chapter to decide. Have fun and good luck!

i would urge you not to ask the sorority members how many bids they will be extending-it might look needy. if they bring up the topic, that's different, tho.

Some schools, like Hofstra in NY, actually pledge more women during informal recruitment than formal. For example, quota for Spring 2006 was 8. Clearly someone needs to be working on advertising etc here b/c 8 quota just does not pay the bills. Total is 50. Most groups took 8-11 in informal in the Fall.
