Jim Rome Show - Smack-Off today!
Who is listening to Rome today? The best show of the year.

I used to listen to Rome everyday, but a lot of his shtick got really old after a while. I guess I got tired of listening to the same 50 people call him and kiss his ass.
Plus, he tries to attack every irrelevant aspect of the beautiful game and it makes him look so ignorant...he never focuses on the actual game itself.
My friend made a point that you could stop listening to Romey for a few years, turn it back on, and it's like you never stopped....
But hey, he's come a long way from Scrub Saturday in San Diego.....

Thanks for telling me. I try to listen every year.
Last year I tried to explain to my girlfriend who the Cablinasian was, and how he beats all the clones.
eta: Stan. I remember listening to 690 all the time as a kid, and Rome actually use to be nice. I swear I heard his first radio show in San Diego because he said, " hi, my names Jime Rome, i'm new so sorry if I mess up here and there". this was back in 92 or something when I use to be a Charger fan

Pretty good show thus far, two callers, nothing too fancy. The big hitters are still coming! Whether one likes Rome or not, he puts an awesome twist on current events in sports like no other - and 99% of the time, it's hilarious.

I prefer Stephen A Smith much better. He makes more valid points and can defend himself much better. Plus, Rome's monotone voice leaves me wanting to kill myself.

I think Rachel, from Houston, was robbed.

I agree. I have no problem with Shawny winning, but I also LMAO at Jeff from Richmond. The delivery alone kills me. I also like the laconic delivery of Silk-braaah (sic).

LOL.
ST, you're out in SoCal. Can you please get "Kirwin from Riverside" to come back?
IMO, he is the best caller ever.

I wish I could. He was a great caller. When Romie plays his calls, I still laugh my butt off.

I disagree - I thought Rakeesha was horrible, monotone and no enthusiasm. I thought Terrance was by far the funniest, most original and most creative, thus deserving the win. I was surprised to see him in 6th. Shawny the Cablenasian was good, and it's like MJ, gets respect just because, so I understand his win - I love his arrogance and his attitude - his winning speech itself was award winning. But, overall I thought Terrance deserved the W.
Late and GOOD NIGHT NOW.

"...party in the city where they all wear schlongs."
agreed. well, I guess I'll get a break next week, because Romey's "in the basement" all week and I hate when his guest hosts try to imitate his humor-- it never comes off.
I wish he'd just run a week of "best ofs." it would be better entertainment. (with the exception of Jay Mohr....I sheepishly admit he cracks me up!)

Haha....it's been years and I know exactly who you're all talking about.
So Shawn the Cablanasian won? Good. I can't stand Jeff in Richmond...I think him winning is when the show jumped the shark.
Terrence in Sierra Madre's always funny. Has he ever won a smack off?

I'm glad you have your facts straight when accusing my chapter of being on suspension in "recent" years. Maybe you should get a clue before posting ignorant bullshit in your signature.

No, he's never taken the "green jacket." For some reason, I don't think he's very funny. Rome likes him because he's a long time caller.
