Why did you chose Zeta Phi Beta?
I was just wondering what influenced you all to pick Zeta Phi Beta Sorority? And were any of you Archonettes first?

First of all I would like to tell you how proud I am of you. There are not too many young ladies that are brave enough to ask people in sororities about their reasons for joining. To be honest with you there are so many reasons I joined Zeta and I would be lying if I told you that there was one answer.
However, I will try to give you a brief reason. I have always been the person who has never been impressed or concerned with numbers, looks or what other people felt I should join. On my campus there were 4 ladies who represented what Zetas call Finer womanhood. They were professional and most of all kind. I was already popular on campus and had the prestige others look for a sorority to give them. I had no reason to join anything for a superficial reason. I was so impressed by the ladies on campus that I decided to do some investigation for myself. What is seen on the outside may not be what is seen within. I went on the internet and fell in love with the Zeta firsts. They are the only sorority with the principal of finer womanhood, they are the first ones to establish chapters in Africa, the first ones to have a national headquaters. In viewing all of these accomplishments I fell in love with Zeta because they only had 5 founders. I personally am a very hard worker and the Zeta thrusts and national campaigns of community service invoked my interests further.
I didn't stop there though....I wanted to see how they were on other campuses. I didn't want to join Zeta on my campus to find that they were the exception and not the rule. I went to campuses on the east coast and in the south and I found that they along with the Sigmas had nothing but love for each other. I respected that because I know that it is very hard to maintain a loving relationship with people that you have to work with or people who you do not know very well. That is all that I will write for now, reasons to join Zeta should be of your own exposure, morals and beliefs. Don't let people tell you what to do and please don't think that just because you are an archonette that you should be a Zeta. The archonette program was established to support young ladies like yourself and give you positive reinforcement. Make Zeta happy by doing what is in your heart. All Zetas have their reasons for joining Zeta, make sure you have the right ones for joining any organization.

I was an Archonette in High School but unfortunately I did not attend a college that had any Greek Organizations. There is a local Grad Chapter in my town and I was considering that option. Which brings me to my question, Is it better to pledge an Undergraduate chapter rather than join a Graduate chapter. I've seen on other boards where people were "dissed" because of this.

Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Inc. is ONE organization whose membership is comprised of both collegiate and graduate sorors - who have equal privileges and responsibilities. Although there are a few differences between the experiences of Greek collegiate life and Non-greek collegiate life, there is no advantage or disadvantage to joining on the Graduate or Undergraduate level. The privilege is in being qualified, invited, and selected to join Zeta period.
Not only that, but the ideals, standards, guidelines, and principals are the same. A woman who desires to be a Zeta must demonstrate her qualifications and work hard to promote Zeta and ensure her progress whether she is initiated into an Undergraduate Chapter or Graduate Chapter. So to answer your question, where or what level you join is not important, but how much you work for Zeta and uphold her rich legacy is.

I joined basically because of what I say on my campus. The other organizations were not exemplifying the types of sisterhood which I wanted to be affiliated with. Now that was just my campus. But the point is that you have to take a good look at what is out there and know what you will or will not accept from an organization. At the time that I pledged there were only three Zetas on campus...but those three Zetas made certain that they did as much community service as possible and that they were involved in campus activities. Through it all they were the reason that I chose Zeta....

I chose Zeta Phi Beta because these were the only group of women that I could truly call my sisters.
When I got on campus they spoke everytime they saw, not like others who only spoke when they had an event they wanted you to come to or when they needed a favor from you.
They are the ones who helped me pick the right classes and told me about what professors to take. They helped me adjust to college life.
And every program they had was on point. I mean everybody knew not to come even 5 minutes late to a Zeta event because thay started on time and they were always packed.
The women worked so hard, there were only 4 ladies on the campus yet they did something almost everyweek. I thought they had to have over 20 members.
Leaving high school, I said I would never be part of a sorority. After a few weeks of interaction with all the greeks on my campus I knew the only way I could go was ZPhiB

You want to know why I became a Zeta? I became a Zeta because it is the realist organization around. There is no half stepping when it comes to a Zeta lady. Just a presence of a Zeta is enough to make any man proud. I am honored to be a Zeta lady and that fact will never change. We are the true essence of sisterly love and finer womanhood. When I stepped on the University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff campus, Zeta took me in. I will always remember that Zeta is not only a sorority, but a family.

I pledged Zeta cause the ladies that were on our campus was down as heck. I was friends with a lot of people who joined different organizations, but Zeta was to realist. I mean Zetas and Sigmas were like so down we had so much fon together. I felt that that was me. I am a real down to earth person and I love to meet and greet people and I just felt Zeta possesed all the qualities I was looking for. Great leadership and Sistely Love to all. The other thing that caught my eye was the relationship they had with the Sigmas and I just didn't understand it at the time that they (we) are constitutionally bounded together. And I loved that once I got the concept of what all that meant. Of course I didn't get it until I became a Soror. Now most of my male friends are Sigmas for college.

Because I relish, relate and appreciate the Foundation upon which my Sorority was founded. The sincerest, most genuine desire a human can have is to help those who cannot or sometimes will not help themselves. You know how sometimes you deal with someone and you just get the impression they're paying lip service, that they're "inauthentic"? That was not the feeling I got from the women I met within Zeta when I was first interested...it was a refreshing change to what I have been exposed to in the past.
