Pitch black, so loud you can't hear, flashs of light from bombs/gun fire ruining what little night vision you have and disorienting you even if you have night vision goggles, explosions and concussions that rattles your entire body, smoke, adrenaline rush, nervousness....I wonder?
Fratricide is career ending, thousands of hours of training are spent to learn how to avoid it, technology is being used to try and mark everyone that's friendly on the battle field. It's still war though. It's not a football game or paintball. It's fast and deadly and even the slightest mistake (or no mistake at all) is fatal.
