New Chapter
Hi all, I have a question for anyone who can help me out there. I am a sister of Alpha Iota Chi, a local sorority and Montclair State University in New Jersey. This past semester, I have transferred to The College of New Jersey. I am looking to start up a chapter at my new school, but I have no clue as to how to go about it! Any suggestions? LOL, thank you!

How old is your sorority? If it's fairly new, I think a call to your founders would be your very best resource.

We were founded in 1984, and it wouldnt be too hard to contact some founding sisters.

Before our Beta chapter was formed, the sister that started recruiting founders made sure it was okay the Alpha chapter. Were you in good standing with your last chapter? Did you have a good firm understanding of your bylaws, rituals and positions?
I ask because you are going to be explaining ALL of this to a new chapter. How much decision making will your Alpha Chapter have in terms of picking founders and such?
In the meantime, check with your school's Greek Life office and post flyers to see if there is any interest in colonization.

Re: New Chapter
Meet with the greek advisor. That campus would need to vote in favor of allowing a new sorority to be formed. You could also look into joining an NPC group as well since you are allowed to do so.
