LXA - St. Louis Area Alumni Association

Brothers,

I have not had the pleasure of posting on this site in the past, but after looking at all of your many posts I admire the passion each of you have for Lambda Chi.

After realizing that there are over 3,000 Lambda Chi's living in the St. Louis area, several Brothers and I decided it would be a great idea to start a St. Louis Area Alumni Association. It is our goal to foster Brotherhood between Alumni in the St. Louis area and to support current and future chapters around the area. (please see our latest newsletter below)

If you live in the St. Louis area we would love to have your support and if you don't and would like ideas to start an association in your own area please feel free to contact me. Thank you all for your time and I hope to see some of you around.

Jason Galloway

Brothers,

I hope this email finds you well as I have a lot of great information to share with you!

THE START OF AN ASSOCIATION

After many years of waiting we now have an officially established LXA St. Louis Area Alumni Association. This alumni association was recently formed by brothers from all around the country now living in the St. Louis area for the purpose of fostering a spirit of brotherhood and to support LXA in the St. Louis area.

As an association we have already sponsored several events from a BBQ to attending a St. Louis Cardinals game. Our last event, an Alumni vs. Active softball game, was held in September at Tower Grove Park in St. Louis with a strong turn out from alumni. We also turned out on the softball field with a swift and decisive victory against the undergrads! In conjunction with having a great afternoon on the field, we also have a productive meeting. During this meeting we voted on a set of bylaws and voted on a new slate of officers. Congratulations to: Jason Galloway, President ( jasong@lxastl.com); Shawn Usery, VP Programming and Recruitment ( shawnu@lxastl.com); Rob Sutton, VP Communication ( robs@lxastl.com); and Lynn Chipperfield, VP University Relations ( lynnc@lxastl.com ). This is a great group of guys and I believe they will represent your association well and accomplish a lot over the next year.

WEBSITE

I am pleased to announce the launch of our first website at www.lxastl.com. On the site you will be able to find out information about your association, see upcoming events, and register to receive updates from the association. The website will be developed further as time progresses and we will be adding much more functionality to the site.

I would also like to give a big thank you to Matt Winkler. Matt spent a lot of time on the site and it would not have been possible without all of his hard work. Thank you Matt for all of your work!!!

Please feel free to email Matt with any suggestions or comments you have about the site at mattw@lxastl.com.

Visit us today and update your information!!! www.lxastl.com

Awesome idea. I'm glad you've gotten such a great response in the St.L area. I've always wondered why IHQ didn't set up regional AAs. I think it would be a means of giving support to chapters and keeping alumni involved. I know many sororities do.

Thumbs up

Brother Galloway, welcome to GC. Yes, there are many of us who are very Avid Brothers for LXA.

I beleive that The Colony there is the first in the St. Louis Metro area and the nearest are Kirksville and Cape G. or Columbia.

In rereading your Missive, Congratulations are in Order for the Chartering of Pi Lambda Zeta.

You and the other Brothers seem to have done an Outstanding Job of Promoting LXA and what You are doing to help this New Zeta.

Looking forward to seeing You and other Brothers posting on GC!

Congratulations to one and all for Your Hard Work and Determination!

In ZAX,

Got an email from a Brother who was selling His Badge and I asked why!

Well He decided not to as one of His Fellow Brothers asked Him the same question.

Glad He decided not to. Suggested He get on G C and see and Meet us.

Congrats Jason on your hard work and the newly formed AA.

As a member of the board of directors for the San Antonio Alumni Association, I know of the hard work you all have doen to set up your AA.

We formed our AA five years ago from scratch. We also wanted a metro association, because of the large number of alumni in SA from other chapters. We thought it a waste to not utilize them. We had to do a lot of hard work to get going, but we grow in size every year, and in respirces we can provide to the undergrads in our area.

There's no point in reinvinting the wheel. And unfortunately, there are very few metro AA's in existance out there. Also, HQ has limited resources they can provide metro AA's. They just dont have much experience in the area. So we figured it out ourselves. We got in contact with one of the metro AA's that we knew about; the Dallas AA. They helped us and we built on their knowledge. We have a slightly different structure, but it is one that works for us. I'd really encourage you to get in touch with them or with us (via PM to me) to see what assistance we can provide. You all have done a lot of work and seems like you have it pretty well figured out, but theres lots of info and such out there that is 'verbal' only; its stuff, tips and tricks that are out there that arent really written down anywhere and we just figured out along the way. Use outher groups successes to move along faster than what we or Dallas did.

I'd be more than happy to help via email or phone call. We're doing some amazing things down here in SA and there's lots of demographic simularities between our two cities. Glad to help in any way I can.
