How different life would be...
So we have done threads on what other org we would have been part of, but have you ever wondered how different your life would have been if you had never gone greek at all?
It's kind of surprising that I did considering I came from a very limited greek family. Only one out of about 15 aunts/uncles was greek. One grandpa was a Kappa Sig, and my grandma was part of a local. That's it! No greek siblings either.
Being Greek led me to meet new people in new places, confidence in my leadership, cooperation with many many personalities, and friendships with people that I very well would never have known. I didn't need it to validate me as a worthwhile person, as it shouldn't need to, but what an experience it was and still is!
How different would your life be/have been without your organization and greek system?

It is beyond my comprehension how different my life would be because I wouldn't have met my best friend (sister-daughter), Angela. I wouldn't have received some of the leadership scholarships that I earned in college which helped pay my way through school. I wouldn't have met my first husband, who I dated for most of college but only remained married to for a year. Let's just say that becoming an Alpha Gam led to a chain of events that made my life what is today. Would I have met my second husband if I hadn't met my first and gone through everything I did with him? Would my children be my children? Who knows???

Dee I'm just like you! I met my bestest friend ever who is my lil sis. I never would have met so many people in college, Greek or non-Greek. Being a sorority girl gave me the confidence to talk to new people because normally I get really shy and intimidated. I probably would have only befriended the one non-Greek who I became good friends with. I would have gone to classes and then home, not hanging out and having fun. I would have had only the friends I grew up with and a few of my high school friends. And most of all I wouldn't have learned to deal with drama, have leadership skills, participate in volunteer work, or donate money to a really really worthy cause (CMN) all the time!

See, for me it was only an uncle and my mother who had gone Greek. I figured I would do it when I went to school, just because I had heard good things.
I still would have had a good college experience, but I think going Greek afforded me the best college experience. I may never have met some of my best friends, or my wife for that matter (she's an Alpha Phi who I met while she was a new member).

I had no back ground as a Greek as none of my long line of family were Greeks or even went to college.
If I had not gone Greek, I would not be meeting with Brothers at Monthly gatherings, tailgaiting at Homecoming or at the Fall classic at Arrow head in Oct. Only Div II team to do it and now 5 years in a row.
But, besides that, having the Many Brothers from not only My Chapter but so many others that I have met over the Years and on GC. The Bond of the many Brothers that I have come to know over 40 years the Chapters I have visited, Talked with on the phone, emailed with and Fraternitys Events.
I would not have something to do as be on GC conversing with Members of Other Greek Organizations and knowing some National Presidents.
Not having the sorrow of a Chapter going down Hill and the Glee of seeing a new house being built and rebuilding the chapter.
God, I just dont think I would have had as full life as I have had being a Greek.
Doing it the hard way taught Me more about life and working with people than just having gone to school and graduating.
Sorry that this was so long, but I have The Greek Feeling!

I would have had a very limited social life, that's for sure. I definitely don't think I would've enjoyed college as much because it was my sorority sisters who sort of got me to come out of my shell and have fun.

My life would be quite different, I'm sure.
I probably would never have met most of my sorority sisters, or if I had met them, we'd be no more than casual acquaintances.
One of my best friends is my sister. Who knows if I would have met her?
That sister introduced me to my husband, as well as to my psycho ex-boyfriend (you win some, you lose some). Who knows if I'd have met either of them? (Of course, in the case of PsychoEx, that would have been a good! )
I'm not a very outgoing or chatty person, but the experience of participating in rush from the sisters' side has helped me develop the ability to strike up a conversation with a total stranger.

My social life before Sigma was pretty good. I had friends from Kappa Phi as well as church.
Sigma didn't give me friends, but it did help me make MORE friends, girls that I couldn't imagine never meeting.
If I hadn't gone Greek, I probably would still have the same ideas about sororities that I had from freshman year. Before I joined, I thought that NPC sororities were not for Black women and certainly not for disabled people. I wanted to join, but I was pretty sure I wouldn't get a bid.
I wouldn't have the confidence to talk to people that I gained through interacting with others at sorority events.
Sigma has been a HUGE part of my college experience, and I don't think my college experience would be what it has been without it.

With out gamma phi I really don't know what life would have been like and I don't want to know.
I did ROTC at Purdue University. There were only a handful of us that went Greek. I got a lot of crap from other cadets in ROTC b/c they never understood why I joined. To this day I still get crap from people in the Air Force b/c they don't understand.
Without this house I would not have met some of my best friends. I would not have been such a rounded person.
I mean when I was deployed my sisters sent to stuff. It was great! I have this whole other support system in my life.

My grades would be better.
I would be less outgoing.
I would probably take myself way too seriously.

I would be much quieter.
I'd have a lot less clothing.
I would have never worked at Hillel...where I met my ex (and still one of my closest friends) boyfriend.
I would have never met some of my really good friends.

I wouldn't have met my best friends and have all the memories that I have. Plus, I would be a LOT less outgoing. Being greek is one of the best decisions I ever made!

I think I would have gotten pretty wrapped up in engineering and missed out on a lot of college experiences. I wouldn't have matured nearly as much, and I wouldn't have the strenght that I found.
