Zeta & Hurricane Katrina

Sorors & Visitors

Share what activities you and/or your chapter are doing to provide aid to Hurricane Victims!

I am volunteering with the Salvation Army. They have set up an intake center for victims who come to the Chicagoland area.

Another good site for volunteer opportunities is volunteermatch.org

I gotta tell you--- at heart, I am a big ole softy. It's hard for me to watch the news...the devastation is just completely heartbreaking.

My chapter did an in-house drive as efforts here in NY have been pretty tremendous. We have close contact with a Soror from NO and we are sending her directly a huge load of stuff for her family and we are also supporting the efforts of the Southern region with barrels of donations as well.

My heart truly goes out to all who have been impacted by this tragic event. When I saw the reports of missing people on a special last night it reminded me so much of how NY was after 9/11. It's just so sad

Our chapter received a donation of 15 boxes of new shirts from AAA to give towards the effort (about 600 shirts in all sizes). we gave them to the Oakland, CA City council.

It is amazing what God can do through others.

I have been with my church volunteering...we were the drop off point for our city.
Also, we have a gym that now looks like walmart with so much stuff in it.
People are coming by daily getting the items, cloths food etc that they need.
But on a Soror note, We had a grad Soror who was displaced to our area. She is older and disabled due to medical conditions. anyway me and some of the local sorors have been spending time with her taking her shopping, getting items for her that she needs as well as taking her to church...it has felt really good to help one of our own. She is from Slidal LA and is sweet as pie...
I just love helping but I really love helping Sorors in need!!!

My chapter along with other Zeta and Sigma chapters in our area will working together on Sept. 24th and collect donations for two families living with frat in Texas. Frat contacted us and let us know he needed all the help he could get and we got to work.
