Soul Plane

I might lose my "REFINED PASS" but I admit I want to go see this movie.

Comedy
Nashawn wins $100 million in a legal settlement. He uses the money to start the first all-black airline, NWA, as a means to win back his girlfriend, Giselle. However, the maiden NWA flight does not go smoothly when a white family is mistakenly re-routed onto the plane.
Release Date: May 28th, 2004 (wide).

Starring: Kevin Hart, Snoop Dogg, K.D. Aubert, Method Man, Gary Anthony Williams

Anyone else want to see it?

I will definitely see it. Yes, it looks like every stereotype associated with us is in there, but the flick just looks funny to me. Sometimes, you just gotta do what you just wanna do.

..besides, I'm not always proud of my sense of humor, or the things I laugh at anyway.

Yes, please pass your "refined pass", your Links application and your subscription to Black Enterprise to Steeltrap as soon as possible. Thank you! Do not pass Go, do not collect $200, go straight to the 'hood!

yeah i cringed when i saw the previews... just like "head of state"

the cliche "it would sure be crazy if black folks _________! lets throw in a few awkward, out of the loop uncool white people, a famous rapper, and make it a movie!" thing is really old.

this is straight up, 100% bull____. dont waste youre $10.25 on this mess. i would even have reservations about spending $5 for the bootleg.

and it has snoop in it. and now that im reading the plot description (gee, theres actually more to it than black people running an airline!), it still sux. between him on SNL last week and this, he really isnt winning in the "quality acting" portion of the talent show. sadlly, his best acting is GGW.

and let me not even go there about monique...

Guess what? The bootleg is out already! Two of my co workers bought them at the job this week. They both say that it's hilarious. Still, I'd rather borrow it from someone or wait for cable.

Saw it a month ago (Easter) while visiting my fam (including Snoop) in Long Beach. That made it waaaay more fun but my mom, who cusses like a sailor couldn't take it because it had too much cussing in it. I think the "type" of cussing was too much. I thought it was over the top stereotypical but was funny, too. I also thought that MoNique's character was waaaayy too raunchy. I didn't like that AT ALL. There were a lot of funny parts, however. Would I spend money on it? Probably not.

My fiance's cousin is an extra in this movie. When I met him this past summer, he was explaining that after filming, he felt some regrets due to the negative stereotypes that are portrayed in the film. If I see it, it will be to catch a glimpse of him. Otherwise, it doesn't look like the type of film I would spend my money on.

I saw it a few weeks ago and it had a few laughs. John Witherspoon, as always is a fool. I was tired of Sommore and her bf very quickly, but overall it was okay. Dang, I had promised myself to never watch another movie with Snoop Dogg after Baby Boy. I don't know how I got caught up lol.

somebody help me with this....

*hijack question

besides it being a matter of degree/taste regarding comedy, what's the difference between Soul Plane and Chapelle's show? Both make extreme parodies on elements of perceived Black culture (I'm making an assumption for the movie) in pursuit of humor.

I find Chapelle marginally funny, he does have his moments. But dude is huge on GC, so can someone please explain to me what I'm missing with this comparison?

*end hijack*
