Re-uniting after a long separation
I haven't seen my husband in 6 months. He has been in Iraq since then and has a leave at the end of the month. As much as I am excited about seeing him, I am a little nervous. It is completely irrational for me to feel this way. I should be excited right? Advice and encouragement please.

Been there done, that. For a while, due to distance Mr. 1228 and I were separated for 3 and 4.5 months at a time
It is not irrational to feel that way
Take a nice long relaxing bath before seeing him. Relax, breathe. Let him know that you are VERY happy to see him. Take it slow if needed.
Hope the reunion is a blast and hope you have a big old smile on your face!

Of course you're nervous!! Your husband has been going through things that you probably can't even imagine - and you've also been through some changes, as a military wife. If he's due to go back, there will be things he can't/won't talk about.
If it's really getting you freaked, talk to someone on the base, like the chaplain or such. They've heard it all a thousand times, and may have some tips for you.
And like Jill suggested, make sure your hubby realizes how VERY happy you are to see him!!

My husband has been gone for 2 months for business in San Antonio (far cry from 6month in Iraq),was home this weekend and will be going back for another 2 months.
You have every right to be nervous and anxious!! You have been by yourself for awhile and everything you have done has been according to your desires and schedule so take things slow. Make sure your hubby knows you are glad to see him.
Is he home for a 2 week leave?
Enjoy your time together--and the best advice I can give right now, after spending 4 days with my hubby is this--- just take it slow and don't make plans. I am sure there will be plenty of people who want to see your husband and people he will want to see as well. Just enjoy the time you have together.
Don't worry about any of it.... it will all fall into place.
take care-- and enjoy your husband.

Thanks for the advice. I am kind of stuck with no one to lean on here (he is in the national guard so we don't live near a base) All of my friends who have husbands in Iraq live over an hour away. We meet for drinks or dinner once in a while but it is hard to schedule that with my job and graduate work.
He will be in for 2 weeks then leaves again for another 6 months. We got married last April and I have seen him for about a month in the last year.
I am very much looking forward to this. It is so weird to feel like this.
And cashmoney: I am looking forward to it

Not the same, but I'm going to northern Ireland next year for 4 or 5 months...i don't know what it will be like when i see my boyfriend again. Then again, the boyfriend might be moving to Memphis, 12 hours away from pittsburgh, and 9 hours away from columbus. But he desperately wants this job, and it is exactly what he went to school for, so I'm the supportive girlfriend once again.
As it stands right now I live 3.5 hrs away from home, and with my being a Rho Chi and having rush this quarter and then getting my little sis, I haven't been home in 10 weeks and I'm REALLY looking forward to it....t minus 7 hours.
