RNC Convention
Ya'll, Zell Miller is INSANE.
How do ya'll from Georgia live with this cat? Items from his speech:
If Bush has a spine of Tempered Steel, why did he run and hide in Nebraska (after reading to elementary schoolers) on 9/11.
If hes such a fab-o commander-in-chief, where's Osama? Seriously, how hard is it to catch a 6'6" arab on dyalasis?
War on Terror? GWB has taken a sympathetic world and turned it against us.
The republicans arent partisan? Come on! Two words: Tom Delay.
Who do I trust to deal with terror? GWB if we want more. Hes not catching the terrorists, he's breeding new ones.
Glad to see that Dick Cheney could come out of his 'fradey hole' long enough to give his speech.
I consider myself to be republican. At least I used to.

I'm not a Bush fan at all, but the reason for going to Nebraska was a joint one due to the security and communications available there.
With the situation in turmoil, nobody is going to allow a President to fly into the eye of the storm.
At least that one isn't fair.

I concur.
Bush did make public statements, etc that day and in the days after 9/11. We don't need to put our President directly in harm's way and we had no idea what else was going to happen that day. I commented at the time to some co-workers (and my mom) that I found it odd that we didn't hear one single solitary public statement from Cheney at that time. My mom said (she dislikes Bush even more than I do) "Cheney is too busy running the country to say anything". She thinks Cheney is the real head honcho and that Dubya is just a figurehead!

Re: RNC Convention
I am confused Andy. I didn't see his speech but Zeller said that Bush was hiding and it's Bush's fault for not finding Osama?

Zell was a little off the hook.
I kept thinking, "Zell, tell us what you really think."
Anyhow, if you listened to Cheney's speech, it gives the RNC position on almost all of the Kerry-favoring statements you raised.

But, was anyone watching? I wish I still got "overnight" ratings daily so I could answer that question. One of the reasons the networks aren't doing full coverage of the conventions anymore is that most of the American public just don't care. That is particularly true in these days when the conventions are so highly produced and controlled.

Quick question, did Zell Miller questioned Max Cleland's patriotism once?
ETA: Or am I thinking of somebody else?

Let's not forget Zell introduced Bill Clinton at a DNC convention. Zell's views on defense are maybe more in line with Clinton's and Bush's - not Kerry.

Actually these responses are pretty easy........

SOP in any major attack is to protect the leadership so they CAN continue to lead. Did you want Bush to go straight to NYC or DC and possibly get killed? No wait, I think I know the answer to that....
If hes such a fab-o commander-in-chief, where's Osama? Seriously, how hard is it to catch a 6'6" arab on dyalasis?
Very, when you are not as familiar w/ the terrain as people who have lived there for 20 years and there are several tribes protecting him, usually w/ "playing possum" techniques to sneak people and supplies around. The other issue is that the USA tries to prevent collateral damage, and those mofos know it. When you're disguising your troops as civilians, or hiding arms in places of worship, you're creating a no-win situation for the other guy - and they know it.
War on Terror? GWB has taken a sympathetic world and turned it against us.
Sympathetic in word only, never in deed. No big loss, IMHO.
The republicans arent partisan? Come on! Two words: Tom Delay.
So what? At least the Republican party is willing to tolerate discussion of hot-button special interests right on the convention floor. The Democrats censor any dissenters from their party line. IMHO, that's much worse.
Who do I trust to deal with terror? GWB if we want more. Hes not catching the terrorists, he's breeding new ones.
Only terrorists breed more terror. It's a choice and an organized effort. If GWB was the only one at fault, why did the terrorists kidnap FRENCH journalists??? You'd think the French would be their buddies.
Glad to see that Dick Cheney could come out of his 'fradey hole' long enough to give his speech.
Just because someone doesn't go out and mug for cameras every other hour doesn't mean he's hiding. Sometimes people do their jobs without calling a press conference. I'll keel over if the "Internet Generation" ever understands this topic.
I consider myself to be republican. At least I used to.
