New Recruitment Season Starting--Already!
So this morning the phone rang. It was the first of many moms saying, "I hear you're the rec lady, can you help my daughter get some?" And of course I'll help her--she wrote the recs that helped get 2 of my girls into Chi O! We can supply her with Pi Phi, Chi O, AOII, and Zeta right here in the house. I'm really happy that she's asking early bc some call me late in the summer....her daughter is rushing at Auburn and will need lots of recs. We know at least 3 prospective AU rushees.
Although I have a rising freshman daughter, she'll go to a community college for a year, then transfer and rush in a year, thereby sparing us the 7th straight rush since 2000.
Who all knows PNMs for fall 2006? I think that my husband's cousin will rush at Valdosta (I called her Scarlet on last year's thread and then she didn't rush).

This will be a big year for me since my son graduated this year and I know tons of PNMs. I've already written 2 recs for UT-Austin PNMs and another one for Oklahoma is coming soon. There are so many local girls that I haven't gotten info on though. I'll be very busy! YAY!!!

I can't believe it's that time of year again! This recruitment will be my last as an active, so it's kind of bittersweet. It seemed like only yesterday I joined GC and posted my rush thread
PNM's for the fall:
*My friend from HS went to a Kent branch campus for a year. This year she'll be transfering and rushing here at the main campus. KSU is a huge school (largest in NE Ohio) and she doesn't know very many people here, so she figured that Greek life would be a good way to get involved and make friends. Rush here is extremely relaxed and uncompetitive (maybe 150-200 girls participating) with alot of sophomores, juniors, and transfers mixed in with the traditional freshmen. I'm excited to see her find a place to call home.
(Sororities: AF, DZ, DG, SSS, CW, AXD, FGP (local))
*My mom's friends' daughter is a good friend of mine. She'll be rushing at UNC-Chapel Hill as a freshman. I know it's a reasonably competitive recruitment, but her mom is a sorority alumna and is giving her good advice. She's a great girl and I'm looking forward to hearing about her experience.
(Sororities: ACW, SSS, ADP, CW, DDD, KD, KKG, PBF,ZTA)

My little sister is a rising high school senior, so I'll be wearing out boxes of pens writing recs for her cheer pals who will be college freshmen in the fall. I know she has 8 friends going through UGA rush this fall, and I guess I'll be hearing from gals going to other schools pretty soon. How exciting!

I'm so excited for my first rush as an active sister. Yay! I know of only one person coming to my school (washington state). We're really relaxed though, so I don't really think anyone gets recs (though, i found out after i went through I could have had a Chi O rec and a DG rec. oh well!)

Big year for us as well.
Daughter is graduating this spring and will be attending a deferred recruitment school. Her friends seem to be evenly divided between spring and fall rush in terms of their colleges.
I have all the recs for all the GLOs lined up but they won't be due for awhile.
Question: If recs are sent over the summer for deferred recreuitment when most students are away, what do the sororities do to ensure the recs don't get lost/misplaced etc.

At the University of Idaho the chapters have a P.O. box through the U.S.P.S. and the mail is picked up by members during the school year (and summer if they are open/occupied) or in our case by an alumna this summer. As a member I would always send forms to the member or advisor in charge of recruitment, but our Greek Life webpage says to send them to the Dean of Students where the Office of Greek Life is housed. Personally I think anything I write about a PMN to my sisters is private information and needs to be kept within our sisterhood, so I wouldn't send it to the Dean's Office. I understand why they make the suggestion, but since I live here in town and regularly see my sisters I won't add that extra step in.

Probably not much..........
Between any officer transition and/or just college life, I wouldn't send them this soon.

A member of our alumnae group has a daughter who'll be a freshman at Colorado State. She's received stuff from the greek office and we're hoping she goes through.
