Question Bid Day Details Question

I don't know if a similar question has already been asked, but I looked and didn't see one. I am rushing next month and was wondering about Bid Day. I understand that everyone goes in a room and receives (or doesn't receive) a bid. But how exactly do they go about it? Do they line you up and call your name or something? Or do they have everyone sit down and they bring it to you? Ahhh!

It differs. At most schools I've been with, you go to a central location to pick up your bid. If you didn't get one, you were told ahead of time so you wouldn't show up and not receive an envelope.

I heard in Nevada, they have girls stand outside on the grass of greek row and they approach the girls with the envelope. I was thinking I feel bad for those who are not getting envelopes.

Here's a thread for you: How are bids distributed on your campus?

I do not believe there is any campus that allows girls that completed recruitment, but are not getting a bid, to show up for Bid Day and cause them to be publicly humiliated like that. That would just be cruel.

Most will get one bid, yes. Some campuses are set up where every woman who follows all the rules and goes to all the parties she is invited back to, is guaranteed a bid somewhere. Multiple bids, however, do NOT happen in formal recruitment. I do not know how informal recruitment works, but multiple bids may occur in that process.

I believe that men can get more than one bid in fraternity recruitment.

I heard that legends get more bids. that is weird. my friend told me she got three bids and she picked the house she wanted which she was legend to. also this way if you turn down a sorority, the other person can still choose you cuz you also bid them. lets say abc and xyz bids you, you turn down abc and go with xyz. Xyz is okay cuz another person may choose them over abc, etc. that way there is no "sobbing, damn i dont want to be with them"

Because we don't have a house and we're the only NPC on campus, we do things differently than most campuses.

Sisters visit each PNM's dorm room/home chanting/singing/clapping with balloons and flowers when they receive their bids. Trust me when I say that it's an unreal feeling to hear "How I Love Those Alpha Gams" echoing throughout student housing!

The only time that I have seen that happen is during COB or unstructured informal. If two or more sororities are having events in the same time period and a PM is attending all of these events, it is possible that she could end up with multiple bids. In structured formal recruitment, she would receive only one.

BTW - Your friend is a legacy and not a legend.

The way formal recruitment and bid matching works you can only receive one bid. If it is COB you have the possibility of receiving more bids.

Well it's not UNLV that does that BabyP. We don't have greek housing/! of course.. UNR - "our evil enemy might"- but I sincerely doubt they do.

Chelly,

Call the office of Greek Life at your university. They can explain the university's bid day plans to you.
