Question for AZD's regarding if there is an AZD and KKG connection?

Hello Alpha Xi Delta's!!

I noticed that Kappa Kappa Gamma and Alpha Xi Delta both have dark and light blue as their colors (with AZD also having gold for their colors) and someone once told me that initially, when AZD was first starting out, the women (of what became AZD) were then part of a local who wanted to affiliate with KKG.

However, (I was told that) through circumstances, AZD kind of took on a life of its own and ended up becoming its own National group, rather than becoming a KKG colony and (eventually) chapter.

Are there some KKGs or AZD's who can verify this? Just wondering.

If so, I think it is quite interesting....

Hi! I'm a Kappa, but I can't answer your question about Kappa and AZD, but I just wanted to say that if that's true, that's really wild because my mom is an AZD!

The official history of Alpha Xi Delta does say that originally the double blue was chosen because our founders thought they'd like to affiliate with KKG. But, when the decision was made to go national, the gold was added.

Our founders were in fact planning to affiliate with KKG, but later decided to go national and the gold was added to our colors with the addition of the Beta chapter of Alpha Xi Delta.
