Boycottin' ebay
I decided to see what all the hub bub is about with Ebay. I won a bid for a PS2 for $112. I paid using PayPal. Dude emails me saying he'll put it in the mail asap. So a week goes by...no PS2. I try to email dude...email address is coming back invalid. So I contact Ebay to get dude's phone number. Whoever answers the phone doesn't speak English so I give up. File a complaint with ebay. Dude emails me saying he sent the stuff and I should have it. He sends a UPS tracking number. I go to the UPS website. The tracking number he provided is BOGUS. To make a long story short, PayPal is giving me my money back but I'm pissed and will never deal with Ebay again.

That sucks! I've never done ebay but I do half.com (an affiliate). I've never had too many problems, although it pisses me off the rate of commission they suck out of your direct deposits. But hey they're a business and they have to make a profit. Maybe the BBB could do something about it?

You should consider filing a fraud report with your local police. A guy here in TN was scamming people out of many items they paid for. He was tracked down through the info he used to claim his paypal payments. But, the victims had to go through the cops in order to get the info.
I am sorry you had such an awful time...

Aw man, that SUCKS. I've had nothing but positive experienced with Ebay. Make sure always to check their rating and their feedback. I only bid on things from people that have all positives.

For the most part, that's been my experience. I did make one bad mistake - bid for something without checking the shipping first. The item was 99¢ and the shipping was $15!!!!! If I had taken the time to read the amount of negative feedback, I would have known better, so it was my own fault. I did refuse to leave any feedback for this seller, since we couldn't come to a better agreement.
Don't let one experience sour you for the rest of the really great ebayers out there!

I'm sorry, too. ebay for the most part is filled with pretty decent sellers and buyers. I wouldn't give up on it all together.

i've had good luck with e-bay. yahoo auctions had hit a couple of snags. but they have been workable. i echo the others. don't give up on it, but work only with those with positive feedbacks.

Wow! I'm sorry about that. See that's what makes me very cautious about eBay...I'm paranoid anyway, but situations like that are always a hassle to iron out if you find yourself in one. I've ordered two things off eBay myself and had no trouble, but a guy I used to date had a couple of bad experiences. He said he ordered a diamond bracelet one Christmas as a gift, and when it arrived, the quality was much below what had been promised. Another time, he ordered a laptop computer, which never came...I forgot what went on, exactly, but for some reason the seller "couldn't" send it because there was some of kind of problem on his end, so the guy ended up pestering the living daylights out of the seller and he finally got his money back, but it took a long time.

Yeah that's the killing part. Dude had all positive feedback. I don't know why he decided to flip on me. All I wanted was a PS2. So I took my butt to Best Buy and got an Xbox, lol.

File a complaint with PayPal. You might be able to get your money back.

I've had nothin but bad luck with ebay...
I had a few auctions cancelled when i was the highest bidder...
Another time I had a similar problem.. except the item finally got here, but it was damaged.
then once.. and this was MY fault.. I meant to bid $12.00 on this absolutely adorable Vera Bradley bag.. but by accident, I bid $1200
I was able to retract the bid and all that.. but since then, I've steered clear of ebay. my boyfriend absolutely loves ebay.. he buys all kinds of things from it. he's never had a problem.
Oh well
I'm glad everything worked out for you!!!

So what's the problem? Sounds like Ebay/PayPal took care of you.
I don't think a boycott of them is in order if you recieved a refund -- unless Ebay treated you poorly.
Was the seller's rating decently high?

The problem was that the guy didn't send what he was supposed to after he recieved my money. Then he lied on several occasions about sending it. PayPal has refunded my money but I have chosen to not buy anything from Ebay in the future. Thanks.
