Aoii Pin?

I've never seen an AOII pin like this before...can anyone tell me if it really is one of ours?

Well, I've never seen anything like this before, either. Maybe it's really for Omicron Alpha Pi? Definitely interesting!

I would have to agree with Christin that this is an Omicron Alpha Pi pin. . . I have never seen anything like it in all the pins at IHQ

Is there a Omicron Alpha Pi sorority? I tried to look on the internet to try to figure it out and nothing came up.

Ebay Pin

I don't think this is "official" jewelry.

According to the AOII centennial celebration book, Celebrate the Century:

"In the early days of the Fraterninty, the members wanted a piece of jewelry they could wear to recognize each other when not wearing their badges. It took many years to decide upon a design, probably because the letters AOII could NOT be used on anything other than the badge...."

The book says that our badge design is the one the founders designed and the sorority has not wavered from it. The first badge was plain yellow gold with a ruby in the apex of the A, and every version since has been basically the same only with rubies, pearls and diamonds incorporated.

There was a conversation at the 1967 convention to make the badge more elaborate, but it was decided against in order to keep with the founders' wishes.

Response from Pin Seller

I asked the seller of the pin where the pin came from and our question of its authenticity. Her response:

"I have no idea. I purchased it at a central Wisconsin estate auction with some other old pins and pinbacks. Some of the pinbacks

dated to late 1800’s. This pin sure generated a lot of questions. I do think by the looks of the pin that it is quite old. A girl from

Missouri won the auction. If you ever find out anything about it let me know. I am curious also."
