Need Help with Pre-Rit
hey guys. i was looking for some advice or suggestions on an interesting situation. im the kappa here at a newly founded colony, and am thus in charge of planning pre rit/i week etc. now this leaves me in an interesting bind. first off, not having seen initiation myself (nor has anyone else in the colony). and second, that i dont really have any tradition to follow on. i was wondering if you could tell me some good events or activities for pre rit. any help would be greatly appreciated. thanks.

Please check through LXA section of GC!

PM me - I have some ideas - since you haven't seen Ritual yet, but still want to plan some Pre-Initiation activities, it's a bit more challenging.

On the Beta Nu Zeta's new Alumni Assocation website, There is a pretty big section that includes information about the Evolution and Development of the Lamba Chi Alpha's Brother Badge as well as the Theta Kappa Nu's Badge.... It includes a nice Photo Gallery of different variations of the Badges....
This information could be used for a nice Kappa Session.... just an idea

Pikey
When our local became a colony, all the brothers were initiated. Why do you say you haven't been? Does LXA now have non-initiated colonies?

Jono, that is a good question.!
When I was Initiated in My Colony, We were all for lack of a better word, Initiated!
Why not you as the way you put it?

I'm assuming that either A) they are going to be initiated this week and were working on a Pre I set up, which happens. or B)This post was bogus and trying to get us to say something related to hazing or the ritual. I at first assumed A but since I haven't gotten a response on the board or a reply to an email I'm now assuming B.

M, unless you or we hear something, I have to agree with you!
Jono and were talking about this last night and I took for granted that since he mentioned UIW that it was the new colony that lifesaver is the New High Pi for!
Maybe on these boards, we should never take anything for granted!
I think lifesaver when I talked to him said they had Ritual, but I hope he can help us get the straight scoop!
Andy, calling Andy!

Naw, Pikey's legit.
I have been working with him to plan a pre-rit and I reccomended he come on here to get some more ideas.
Hes from the colony that I am High Pi for.
Jono,
Lambda Chi policy is that AM's MUST BE initiated in 6-8 weeks. All charterings now take AT LEAST a year as one of the chartering standards is 'continued operations for at least a year." So they have to initiate them.
Also, not all Lambda Chi colonies start off as locals - many start off just as very informal interest groups often only weeks or months old. UIW started this way. They really got the ball rolling last fall.
As for the numbering process...Its my understanding that they will have numbers, but no zeta designation until they are chartered. So the first member intiated will be 'University of the Incarnate Word Colony - 001.' Assumnig they get their charter in a year, they will be a Pi series zeta, maybe Pi Beta Zeta, so then that brothers number would become 'Pi Beta - 001'. I think. This is all new to me... I have NO experience with colonies until now.
Anyhow, ritual is this weekend. And pikey has a great pre-rit / brotherhood week planned. Email me if you want details.

Sounds great then and tell him good luck
I'm more than willing to help with anything but I've just gotten cautious with how much I'm willing to talk about with people. We do something called Sharing of the Light that I talked to him about. It was created by Doc Dirghalli EM270. It is a great time of fellowship and brotherhood. I also sent him some other things. Who will be doing the initiation for the colony?
Tell them all good luck.

As you well know, there of us who post on GC are more than willing to help anyway we can in any especially new adventure!
I am sure times have changed since I was Initiated in 1966! Ah, the good old days!
Andy, I know it will be the blind leading the blind Bro. But I got faith in you and always willing to get a call from you, well not as late as last time! Hell to get Mature!
M PM me about sharing the light! We may do something similar.
I know we do a visitatin during Pre-I where the New Associates are taken around to where the Chapter has began, lived etc.
To funny, one is a Taco Bell, the next is a vacant lot!

Sounds like the chapter here at UNC - of the 8 house locations I know of, only 3 of those houses are still standing today - 4 were bulldozed for parking lots at UNC, the other one was condemned and torn down, and is now a small apartment building.
Kind of sad, really. But at least the house where I was initiated is still standing - but I just missed out on buying it - it was for sale, and I called one day to late - I would love to have had that house!
Grr.....

Bummer LXAAlum!
I know that the House we demolished last Aug. was one that when we were just a local went looking for a House! The owner had a Crippled Bother and as long as he was living would not sell it. We had by his word the first option to buy it! He was true to his word and we were there for 30 + yrs but it is like a lot of us it got old and tired!
So, coming Founders Day we have only had 3 houses in 40 years of BX/LXA!
