Orientation

Just wondering what others schools Greeks Life do with their orientation programs during the beginning of school for rush or any other way to get the Greek name out there. I have a meeting in a couple weeks with our orientation programs, and right now we dont do anything so looking for some new ideas.

Here at Kent we have BLASTOFF, which is a big giant organization fair. The greeks all have tables set up w/ cool freebies, games, and prizes. There's also a recruitment signup table.

Meet the Greeks is the week before recruitment. It's a fun time for freshmen and others to come together and meet greeks and ask questions in a non-rush setting.

Back in the day, before we had deferred rush, freshmen went to a big kickoff event with a speaker etc. From there, men went off to fraternities while women went to a women's convocation where they learned about their sorority and independent living group options. [ETA: The freshman class picture was taken at the beginning of the kickoff event, so almost all the frosh showed up.]

For the first 3 or 4 days of rush, literally the only thing to do on campus was rush, which I think got some people to come out who otherwise might not have.

I think they still have a kickoff, but it's a more low-key event.
