Hi Ladies...

Okay, heres my thing...Im very shy.

And I know this is not a good thing when it comes to recruiting girls. I guess my thing is fear of rejection. Do any of you have any ideas as to how I may be able to break this? Its pretty frusterating for me too. Its like I am shy but Im not. I am a very outgoing person; nice and friendly but I just can't seem to make myself like talk to people. Not that I am like frozen up shy, Im just shy. Im working on bringing Phi Sig to Armstrong but I can't do that if Im shy because I wouldn't be able to get ladies. Any help would be apprecitated.

it was the same for me - i'm shy - not as bad as i used to be ...any way i was recruitment chair for a year and a half....

so in what way are you recruiting...i kow you said you are COBing, but do you set tables up in your student centre or are you just chatting up women that you run into?

i know it always helped me to have some sort of brochure - it's not too hard to do one up in Word or something...and if you only do up 50 or less than it shouldn't cost more than $10....

anyway, having this brochure would 1) give my hands something to do if i got nervous and 2) give me something to talk about...you know, hand the women the brochure and point to the different things on it while talking...

I always hated doing tables cuz I don't like to approach ppl...eventually i just played a game with myself...how many women would i let pass before i spoke to one...the goal being to not let any pass....

of course the best way to start recruiting is to ask your friends and classmates out to an event - it's always easier to start with ppl you already kow a bit...

Thank you so much. I have made brouchures and stuff and put some up on boards around school. I've also handed some out to some ladies. I like your game though. I'll try it. Thank you for the advice!
