14 year old boy top draft in soccer league

http://sports.yahoo.com/mls/news;_yl...v=ap&type=lgns

He's not playing right away, which is good. They say that he's going to play once they "feel he's ready". I don't care when he starts playing, but he should somehow finish high school.

the thing is this kid (Freddy Adu) probably will start playing this season and get significant playing time when he does. it's a major deal for MLS to get him; he had offers to play with a few international teams and will start on the U.S. national team in a few years.

high school will probably be done in his free time - right now he's being looked at as the future of u.s. soccer, and that's where most of his time is going to go.

Freddy Adu has spent the past two years training with the US under 17 National team. This is a residential team, and the players stay at a complex in florida (I can't think of the name of the complex, but I think they also have trained many young tennis players like Andy Roddick.)

Anyways, these players are put on an accelerated high school program. They spend most of the day in class and are given tutors and any other type of academic help they need is given to them.

Freddy will probably earn his HS diploma in the next couple months...probably before he plays a minute of MLS action.

I remember hearing something about that but forgot; makes sense and is actually a good system when you think about it.
