Fraternity bashes Sorority
I am a senior at NCSU in North Carolina and Joined Alpha Phi my sophomore year, the same year we closed. On our school website a total jerk moron posted the following:
You can't, here's why...
A new sorority cannot be formed until all the other sororities have reached capacity, that is part of the reason the sorority rush is done the way it is. If you know anything about sorority rush, it is full of insane rules and regulations, these are so that no sorority will look better than any other, and shitty ones will have just as good a chance of getting girls. There are only 6 sororities on campus becuase no one ever wanted to join Phi Mu, 'cause it sucked. Since Phi Mu had shit membership, and the school wouldn't allow a new sorority until all the current ones were equal, it was stuck. Finally, that fucking phat farm was destroyed, and this allowed room for the new sorority on campus. So unless all of the current sororities reach capacity at 120 members (about), there will not be room for a new one.
While he is grossly wrong about the expansion process, he totally bashed my group in the cruelest and callous way. He couldnt even get the sororitys name right (Alpha Phi). Its really sad, because my dad is in the same fraternity as this guy and I am friends with a good bit his older brothers (we are all graduating).
Does this junk ever stop? Why must greek organizations hold such negative views about each other. While he is ignorant and elitest, it still hurts to have people call something you love "fat farm" like we are a bunch of animals. Also, not that it matters, most of the groups on campus have around the same amount of larger girls, but only one group gets the stigma

I would let your dad know, and have him write a dispassionate and thoughtful letter of concern to his fraternity's HQ.

I can't believe he would say something like that.
You say he posted that on the website? You mean the NCSU website?? Maybe you could get it taken off whatever board he posted that on?
Good luck from a fellow Carolina girl!

..almost forgot
If your dad does write a letter (and he should), address it directly to the Executive Director and FedEx it. The $20 to overnight the letter will get it on the ED's desk and emphasize just how important this is to your dad.

Many times, there is no reason for stupidity!
But, it will always reach out and try to grasp you.
Have your Father email the Chapter. State what a dumb ass one of his so called Brothers has become.

I have to disagree, and strongly at that. By getting the HQ to contact the chapter president, and do so forcefully, that chapter will bear down strongly on the member who disgraced his fraternity. The only way that this won't happen is if it is a disfuntional chapter, in which case the fraternity may be looking for any excuse to intercede.
The text of the post of this sophmoric fraternity member speaks volumes, and it will disgrace any lucid member of that fraternity who reads it.

If I read the original post correctly, this is posted on an official school website. By leaving it up the school could be in trouble regarding libel, especially from Phi Mu, who is completely innocent in all of this.
definitely let the school and the fraternity know.

Yeah, we all talk trash. But it shouldn't be done where it's visible to an outside community. If you can't keep your hatred within your chapter, at least keep it within the Greek community.
Here's why that's such a bad idea:
Say one of the Alpha Phi alums from NCSU was wealthy, which happens, since as Greeks we're going to make more money. She decides "Hey, even though my chapter is closed, I had a great time at NCSU and I'm going to donate some money back to the Biology department for a new lab." She goes to the website and sees that in the forums. Is she going to donate any money now? Probably not.
It's not all that far-fetched. I can tell you for a fact that my school of initiation will not get one red cent from me because of the behavior of people in their alumni office. I can't imagine what something like this would make me do.

Before you act, verify.
Before you act, verify.
Unless you know that Mr. AAA actually posted it, and unless you know that he belongs to XYZ GLO at NCSU, you should probably forget it.
Anonymous postings on www forums - and in this case even getting the name of the sorority wrong - aren't a reliable source.
And congratulations to the NCSU for getting an NCAA Soccer Tournament bid. I think my son's team knocked them out in OT sudden death last time they got a bid.

You know, maybe it's just a vibe, but when I read that comment my first thought was that it was written by a woman, not a man.
