Exclamation Neat Freaks vs. Slobs

Are you a neat freak, slob, or somewhere in between? What do you think of people who are the opposite of you in regards to cleanliness (or lack thereof)?

I'm a neat freak myself, but I wasn't until college. I think I've turned into my mother.

See?! I even had to edit the post to make it look "perfect". Sad, huh?

I am a total neat freak.
I like things clean and tidy.
My s.o. is the complete opposite.

Well, I have to admit that I am sloppy. Always have been. Only child of two pack rats, so I know it must be genetic. My grandmother, who lived with us when I was young, was the complete opposite. She never saved anything.

I want to do the play The Odd Couple - Female Version so I can play Olive (the sloppy one)

Being the schizo i am, i'm both. I have mild OCD (seriously), pretty much in the area of food and food handling. I wash my hands at least 10 times a day. I'm always watching over people to check if their cooking habits are sanitary. I will kill anyone who steps foot outside the kitchen/dining room, or especially in my car or room, with food. The kitchen and dishes must be spotless!

But when it comes to anything else, I'm kinda a slob. People have literally tripped while entering my room, because of all of the mess.

I was a huge slob. Never dirty, I just never finished putting anything away. One of my agd sisters moved in with me one semester. She actually moved out without ever speaking to me again. (Or even asking me to clean up, which was wrong of her, she didn't give me a chance). I just came home one day and she had moved her stuff out. But I do feel bad about being a slob. I wish I could go back in time and fix it. I am only slightly better now. So now I know better than to share tiny spaces with friends.

I can be both. Sometimes I am utterly lazy and just leave eveything laying everywhere. Granted, I know where it all is, so that's all the matters really. But other times I get this little compulsive cleaning bug, and all the messes anywhere near me must be cleaned, mine or not, and I don't stop until I'm finished. After that I have to keep everything spotless for at least a week before I can begin to let it go.

I am a total neat freak. In the past two years, I let go four cleaning ladies because they didn't clean up to my (admittedly verging on OCD) standards.

Also, I DETEST clutter! I'm not sentimental, and I don't like to keep things around after I don't need them anymore. When I DO keep things, they're in neatly labeled Rubbermaid bins. I have little boxes for each of my sweaters and, instead of keeping my shoes in the boxes they came in (which vary in size), I have them in identical boxes with a Polaroid of the shoes taped to them.

Unfortunately, Mr. KillarneyRose is the total opposite (I think this is the result of growing up with a FREAKISHLY neatnik father). He leaves towels and clothes all over the place, he doesn't wash out the sink after he shaves. OH! And when he makes the bed, he just pulls the comforter over the messed up sheets. The man has spent 20 years in the Navy, including USNA and the Reserves and HE STILL CAN'T MAKE A BED!!

OK, Emily Gilmore!!LOL

If you haven't watched the show, you may not know what I'm talking about, but she is notoriously firing maids for not living up to her standards!!

As for me, I'm not neat. I'm not messy, but I don't exactly clean up right away. I am much better NOW. Honestly, my slovenly nature was because of my weight. It was very hard for me to stand for long periods of time and clean so I didn't. But, I'm 100% better than before. Now, it's not a matter of laziness, or physical limitations. Now, I'm too friggin busy. Tonight is cleaning night. I haven't unpacked from my trip yet, I still have laundry to do, etc. Oh, and I'd be MUCH neater if I had a closet! LOOONG story, but all my clothes hang in a doorway....I hate when I live

Same here...In high school I knew I liked everything in its place, but I didn't realize until college that I was just like my mother and everything must be spotless. I cannot tell you how annoying it is to have roommates who leave clothes in the middle of the floor, never make up their beds, or leave dishes in the sink. OMG, lets not get on the bathroom, it must be immaculate. How can you clean yourself in a dirty bathroom. My mother always said, "If the toilet is not clean enough to drink out of, it's not clean enough."
