Bad day for UW Huskies fans all around

First, Neuheisel is fired, then this article breaks on Sports Illustrated:

Huskies FB faces felony mischief charge

SEATTLE (AP) -- A felony malicious mischief charge was filed Tuesday against Washington fullback Zach Tuiasosopo, who is accused of punching windows out of four cars after drinking at a sorority party.

If convicted, he could be sentenced to 90 days in jail. Arraignment was scheduled June 17 in King County Superior Court.

Damage to the vehicles was estimated at $6,753.

An athletic department spokesman said Washington coach Rick Neuheisel doesn't comment on pending legal matters involving his players.

Tuiasosopo, who started five games last season as a sophomore, is the younger brother of Oakland Raiders quarterback Marques Tuiasosopo and the son of Manu Tuiasosopo, a former Seattle Seahawks defensive lineman.

According to a police probable cause statement, Tuiasosopo was arrested May 10 at a dockside tavern where officers found him intoxicated with "blood and cuts on his hands and pants."

Earlier, the 22-year-old Tuiasosopo attended a sorority party aboard a tour boat. The ship's owner told police Tuiasosopo had become belligerent near the end of the cruise.

"Tuiasosopo provided a written statement advising that he had been drinking with his friends and believed that he drank too much," the statement said. "He also stated that he didn't remember what happened but that he [was] sorry and wanted to pay for anything that he did."

In the parking lot at Fisherman's Terminal after the cruise ended, a witness told police Tuiasosopo challenged him to a fight when he yelled at him to stop punching the windows.

Tuiasosopo has no prior criminal record and remained free without bail. He was ordered not to drink alcohol while the case is pending.

Question Status of Neuheisel?

Has Skippy officially been fired? I've heard conflicting stories this morning.

Assume you're talking about Ricky N.

Don't think anyone here in Colorado will shed any tears.

Ya know, the guy is a lawyer -- you'd think he'd know better.

Well, i'll say that i'm truly sorry for the University of Washington. Hopefully y'all can get a coach named quickly and can get ready for football season in the fall.

Other than that, this couldn't happen to a better guy. I've never liked neuheisal, and am extremely happy to see him unemployed

GPhiBLtColonel - where did you heare that Neuheisel got drunk at a party? All I heard was that he was involved in illegal betting on NCAA games....and as far as UW and he are concerned, no one has been fired yet, the investigation is ongoing. and this is why I go to the other school in the state!

okay, not to sound naive, but it sounds like he hit a tavern after the sorority boat cruise as well...

Zach Tuiasosopo charged with malicious mischief
06/10/2003

Associated Press

SEATTLE - King County prosecutors have filed a malicious mischief charge against Washington football player Zach Tuiasosopo.

If convicted of the felony he could be sentenced to 90 days in jail. He'll be arraigned June 17 in King County Superior Court.

Tuiasosopo is accused of smashing windows of four cars May 10 a Seattle restaurant after a sorority party on a cruise ship. That's not a typo..that's exactly how it copy and pasted

Charging papers say he was arrested at a nearby tavernwith bloody hands. He told police he had too much to drink and couldn't remember what happened. The damage totaled $6,800.

He has no prior criminal record and remain free without bail.

The 22-year-old junior fullback is the younger brother of former UW and current Oakland quarterback Marques Tuiasosopo.

SigkapAlumWSU, there are TWO separate UW scandals going on, with TWO different guys.
One is Zach Tuiasosopo (he is a UW football player, he is the one who got boozed up) and the other is Skippy Neuheisel (no, he did not do any boozing with sorority girls as far as I know.

Neuheisel dug his own grave - if he didn't know he was doing something wrong, then he's not a bright bulb. Putting up that much money in an NCAA pool? Come on, give me a break.

Also...would the boat owner's statement be so kind if the aggressor wasn't a college football player?

Does it matter?

I think that would only cause more problems for the sorority if they didn't contribute to his drunkenness. Hopefully, they were monitoring what amounts people were driniking.

Good point - although someone will probably post the name anyways, I wouldn't. They're probably going to have enough problems anyways.

GPhiB - I'm not trying to jump on you by saying that, just stating my opinion.

No problem KSigkid...I don't feel jumped on...I am just curious, that's all...I can't believe a sorority would sponsor an event like this (which is how the article makes it sound) in this day and age with NPC's push for zero-tolerance...sigh....
