The Overhyped Movie Thread
Right now, on top ofmy head: Star Wars: Phantom Menace, and Pearl Harbor. Overhyped and dissapointing.

Overhyped would be Coyote Ugly. I went expecting a t&a flick from the ads... Ended up with a chick flick.
It had its moments though.

Chicago. It was a good movie, but it wasn't that good!

word. Less cheesey songs, more cool girls kicking ass and dancing on the bar.
Also overhyped: The Real Cancun. I think my computer screen is going to get herpes from all these soft-porno pop ups.

I agree, I fell asleep, but my ex-girlfriend loved it.

Ditto on Phantom Menace. I couldn't wait to see it, and left more disappointed than any other movie I'd ever seen. Then there's Titanic and ET. Never saw either, never will. The media blitz for both were just too much for me.
Of course, I know dozens of people who list both of those movies as their all-time favorites, so YMMV!

Ditto that. Don't even get me STARTED on George Lucas. *growls*
I'd have to say Divine Secrets of the Ya-Ya sisterhood. I was really excited, as it has some wonderful actresses in it, but it was so badly written and cliched I couldn't wait to leave. *rolls eyes* My mom and sister still rave about it though.
Oh, and the number one most overhyped movie in the world? The Matrix. That thing is the most boring movie I have ever seen. I was almost bored to tears, and yet so many people absolutely rave about it. Go figure.

i third Phantom Menace. however, i can't wait for the 3rd installment cuz i love the originals and want to see how everything ties together.
also, don't understand the whole thing with Vin Diesel movies (fast and the furious, XXX, etc).
Ones coming out soon: Matrix Reloaded and Xmen 2.
These movies are great with the action and stuff but i still don't follow the hype. Especially since The Matrix still is confusing to me.
ANd I loved Xmen cartoons when it was on Saturday morning, but the movies are blown out of proportion.

The English Patient. It was so anti-climactic, that even Seinfeld made an episode about it!

Dreamcatcher (And I usually love Stephen King)
The Matrix is probably the worst movie I have ever seen.
Unbreakable
The Mexican (Love the stars, hate the movie)
