Question High Sigma

I need help guys! I was nominated for High Sigma, and I need ideas for the position! The current Sigma does not do anything out of the ordinary besides collect grades, put people on probation or suspension, and hand out scholarships to the highest GPAs. What do your chapters' Sigma's do? Thanks guys!

as bad as this sounds, our sigma doesnt do much either, pretty much the same stuff but he organizes study nights and collects progess reports, in my opinion and from what ive seen, theres not a whole lot for a sigma to do

our sigma also maintains sigma files(peoples old tests/quizes and note books, along with donated text books) and hold study sessions 4 days a week. It is mandated that any member who is not in good academic standing(whether a brother with a low cumulative or last semester gpe or an associate whose grade sheets aren't looking like he's going to make grades) to go to at least 2 of them every week.

Another Idea tha our Phi does is that during his officer report, people are allowed to raise their hand and announce somethnig that they did good that week, usually a test or quiz thath they rocked.

An event that I have heard about and seen work well is a "Scholarship Dinner". The intent is that the quality of your meal is based on the quality of your grades...

3.5 & higher get steak.
3.0-3.5 get chicken.
2.25-3 get hot dogs/hamburgers/pasta
Below 2.25 get Ramen noodles or something similar

The better grades are rewarded and the "lesser" meals are incentive for the students to improve their grades. You can combine the dinner with a presentation of academic awards.

One word of caution, though...the lousy meal should be hazing of any sort (no disgusting combinations, week old leftovers, etc.). It should be a fun event that really emphasizes the successes of our better students.

Our Sigma has started a "Sigma Goody Bucket" with candy, etc in it, and hands out prizes from it if you bring him an A-B paper. Also, any member with a less than 2.5 GPA must attend study tables 3-4 nights a week for 2 hours in the library.

The chapter I used to advise also did the candy bars for grades - handed out at chapter meetings. Any "A" paper, exam, etc....earned a candy bar.

There was also an awards banquet for the chapter, and the top 5 gpa's were honored at that banquet (but they didn't do a "step meal" based on GPA, which actually sounds like a good idea).

Make sure whatever ideas you decide to incorporate can be accounted for in your budget.

Lightbulb

The problem in this day and age of Policitical Correctness has come back to HAUNGHT US!
\
To become a Member in Good Status, whether Active or New Associate is to make your Grades and stay a member in good standing! Is this True??

But We as Active Zetas can NO Further require anyone to study no matter how SHITTY the individuals Grades May Be!!!!!!

This is not only Actives, but N A , so the question, what do WE Do?

We as Active Zetas lose our Charters, put on probation, or maybe Double-Secret Probation! HA!

Do I have the Answer, Hell Know!!!

I think all of you know of enuff about me to know how I feel, and I will let it go at that!

I just wish that The Powers above know what We as Alums and Actives try to do to help Memebers get Grades to stay not only Active, but become New Brothers!

I hope someone gets this message!

I apologige, for my remarks as went to My Zeta to clean out Memoriablia for the hopes top build a new House Soon!

Ha, Only to find out that My Shop was hit twice while I was doing My Fraternity Business!

The next time some ASSWHOLE says I cant, He May Kiss, MY ASS!

If this is not the Case, I will give up being a member of LXA.

Our zeta does "Floor Wars"....the chapter is divided into
3 groups: 2nd floor occupants, 3rd Floor occupants, and
out of house occupants. Each week, the number of A's
and B's made on papers, tests, and major projects is
recorded. Group with the highest score at the end of
the semester gets a free pizza party or some such.

The candy bar idea works great too.

As for probation, and brother on acad. probation
who doesn't improve doesn't get a little brother,
can't go to formals, etc....just a little encouragement.
More important though is FINDING HIM A TUTOR,
using the schools resources as well as other
brothers.

Hope this helps.
