Looking for a job in Florida
My name is Jen and I graduated from Stetson University (DeLand, FL) in December of 2001 with a degree in English. I am in desperate need of a job that will pay $26K/year +. I was teaching at a private school in Tampa, FL and was fired, under contract, without reason. I do not have a teaching degree (one was not needed to have one to work at that particular shcool), although I was, at some point in college, an English/Secondary Education major. I'm looking to do pretty much anything (HR, Advertising, Adv. Sales, Customer Service, Event Coordinator...), even teach (middle school preferably). If anyone can help me out, I would greatly appreciate it. I'm looking to stay in Florida, if not the Tampa Bay area - also willing to relocate to Orlando, Daytona, Miami, Jacksonville, and Gainsville. (All major cities)

Jen,
You might want to look at the online classified ads at the local newspapers or try monster.com.
www.tallahassee.com is the Tallahassee Democrat online edition. Jobs are listed online and you can also post your resume.

Thanks, I've allready tried all of that. I have my resume up on monster.com, hotjobs.com, careerbuilder.com, I also search every major newspaper in florida everysunday (since it's the best day) and can't seem to get my foot in the door anywhere. Thanks for the link though!

Jen,
If you like, send me you resume and I'd be happy to critique it for you. I'm a technical writer by career choice.

Barbara,
Thank you for helping me out. I tried to send you an email through the site, but realized that I can't upload any documents. If you could just let me know what your email address is and I'll send you my resume. Again, thank you for your help.
Jen

If you haven't already, check out this website:
http://chronicle.com/jobs/
It lists jobs @ colleges & universities, but also non-academic positions affiliated w/ schools & museums.
Sign up for the email alerts option, too!
I have a bunch of other bookmarks for jobhunting in Florida... email me at kdonline@greekchat.com.

Thanks for the link. Although, if I do decide to teach again, it will be at the middle school level - or early high school.
