Anybody believe eating shark fin soup or bird nest soup is good?
(i've been in Hong Kong a few days)
They cost a lot and don't taste that great. But Chinese people believe eating it will be good for health, will give you good skin and complexion. Does anybody believe this?

Shark fin is also supposed to increase your libido (i watch a lot of HK films & there's often reference to it). I don't think that's necessarily true, but they might be rather healthy??
Incidentally, I'm jealous that your in HK... I want to visit there someday!

I am going to try to fix the Damn Turkey again, well the other half that I did not eat for Thanksgiving as was still trtying to get off off of the plate!
Wish me luck! Do have instant taters, stove top as then with the Turke may be good to good! More to come at a later time  One is hoping?
Going to do a peach pie I think. But got store bought ice cream! Hell should have gotten stuff to make mine, is better!

I think it tastes good. I'm sure it has some healing abilities as well. All of my mom's soups have healing abilities according to her.

LOL, we're talking about swallow's nest, made of their saliva, we're not talking about cardinal's nest. 
Sure I do believe that those are good for you. Mind you, Chinese culture has been exsisting for more than 4,000 years. 
I think this thread is great, and I want to visit Hong Kong again sometime! Rock on!

When I worked in a pharmacy people of the 'older generation' would buy every type of herbal product out there just for its 'health purposes. That included everything from Vitamin A to Shark Fin oil...*gags* (that stuff reeks.....) So I guess that weird stuff must work..or at least makes you believe it helps.
