Question What to do?

OK. I've been totally at a loss lately about what to do. I want to make the chapter of BSP that I'm starting like any other college social sorority.(Except in price) I'm not really wanting to compete with them just sort co-exsist. I'd love to have a chapter that had formals, mixers and theme parties, and a lot of other girls that I've talked to want the same. They love all the things that BSP stands for and we can't wait to have a chapter on our campus. The only thing is that I'm not sure that people will take us seriously, and if not that will seriously ruin our rush, and chance of survival. I'm planning on working on rush this whole next semester and being ready to get started next fall. That's the time table that the local BSP women that are helping me have set up. I thought about getting some interested sisters together this spring and summer and taking some pictures of us doing activities and then using those to make some like rush pamphlets (sp?). Since the ones from nationals all feature older women I thought that might help out with recruitment. What do you all think? Also does anyone else have any ideas they'd like to share with me? I'm totally open to suggestions.

Idea

...my friend Ginny goes to a school that has a sorority that is only for married women-kinda cool. And even though they don't rush with other NPC groups, they are part of the collegiac panhellenic. They have a panhellenic representative and are involved in everything panhellenic except rush. Everyone on campus loves them. They have a suite on the sorority floor in student center right between two NPC groups. They are reported with all the other groups when reporting grades (their's are always the highest) all the NPC and NPHC groups love them. BSPhi could be like that. Part of panhellenic and evething-but not competing during rush. Or you could join and do formal recuitment with them and just not worry about stuff like quota. If their quota is 50 and yours is 15-well, you're not really "competing" or stealing then are you? You can do philanthropy with the other groups and have socials or something with them too. Greek unity is a good thing. And don't worry about the guys-they love to have socials no matter if you're local or national or non-NPC.. Just some thoughts.

I'm so glad that you're still plugging along, OPAGal. I think your time frame sounds like a good plan. I don't see why your chapter can't fit right in with the other socials. As long as you stay true to the ideals of Beta Sigma Phi, you may run your chapter as you see fit. Do what works best for you, your potential sisters, and your community.

"Younger" pamphlets are a great idea! Hey, maybe you could encourage people to check out the websites from my chapter and Alison's (AngelPhiSig) chapter. They both have pictures of young Betas!

Good luck...

Erica
