College Jeopardy!
Hey everyone!
I'm watching Jeopardy today (Nov. 13), and its some sort of College week theme with students, and one of the subject categories is "fraternities and sororities"! I'm curious as to what they're going to ask...no one has picked that category yet.

Those questions were easy. No one knew Kappa's symbol was the key. lol that was the $100 question too. They also asked about AXO's lyre, Pi Beta Phi being the first in the NPC, AND where ATO was founded at.

Pi Phi is first in the NPC how?
NPC's web page says:
By 1902, it was obvious that some standards were needed, so Alpha Phi invited Pi Beta Phi, Kappa Alpha Theta, Kappa Kappa Gamma, Delta Gamma, Gamma Phi Beta, Delta Delta Delta, Alpha Chi Omega and Chi Omega to a conference in Chicago on May 24. Alpha Chi Omega and Chi Omega were unable to attend. The remaining seven groups met and the session resulted in the organization of the first interfraternity association and the first intergroup organization on college campuses.
And since Pi Phi was founded in 1867, they certainly aren't the oldest NPC sorority either.

Thaaaaaat explains it!! I thought that they were the first ?????? of NPC, but I couldn't figure out what the ?????? was. I thought they may have been the first to do some project, or to make rules or something. Thanks everyone for filling me in!

I watched the episode tonight (this college jeopardy was taped right down the street at OSU. I tried so hard for tickets ) I was so happy that I knew some of the answers in the fraternities & sororities section, thanks to my countless hours here on GC

I love Jeopardy! I can't believe that I missed the Fraternity/Sorority category! I tuned in late yesterday.

I think Pi Beta Phi was the first sorority to have greek letters. Alpha Delta Pi and Phi Mu were the first sororities, founded less than a year apart, but ADeePi's original name was the Adelphian Society and Phi Mu's original name was the Philomathean society.

Pi Phi
Actually Pi Phi was the first to go national.. and the first of those original to switch from their name of IC Sorosis to the greek letters of Pi Beta Phi. Kappa Alpha Theta was the first sorority to orginate with greek letters..
Then Pi Phi was one of the first in founding panhellenic along with others. I just know that others will comment back bc this is always a debated topic in many threads...
