Talking Hello

Hello everyone
I'm currently pledging the Zeta Eta chapter of Beta Theta Pi at SJSU. I actually have pledge for a full semester already, but did not make a 2.5 GPA, so I am a holdover (Pledge, squared hehe)

Just wanted to say hi to everyone out there, and I cannot wait until the end of this semester when I can finally say that I am a true Beta.

Sup buddy,

Well, it's unfortunate that you didn't make grades, I just initiated in January, and one of my pledge brothers didn't make grades either. I think he is goign to initiate at Convention in August.

Anyways, I'm a freshmen (sophomore class standing) in the Alpha Tau chapter at the University of Nebraska...#2063 on the rolls.

Anyways, good luck in the rest of the semester, see if you can't perhaps initiate at convention this summer. It's in Kansas City (my home town) and I'm sure initiating there in front of a thousand other Betas would be just as memorable as anywhere else. Life seems to become more coherent/principled on the otherside.

Let us know how your chapter is doing on campus as well.

Keep coming to Greekchat too - there are only a couple of us Betas that make any sort of showing here at all, and I think I speak for the others (Miami1839 and zz-kai-) by saying we'd love to have you around.

yours in

I'm actually one of 3 Fall 2001 ZH pledges that is pledging again due to grades, but hopefully we will all get initiated soon. We were actually thinking about doing it at convention, but I don't know if we will or not.

Our house isn't terribly big, with just 23 active members and 6 pledges. We are still fairly young, having been on campus for just 10 years, and we just celebrated our 7 year anniversary of receiving our charter.

I'll definetely keep visiting this forum.

And I can't wait to know what that stands for

You guys are small, but hopefully really strong. I always find it interesting to find out about Greek life on other campuses.

We at Nebraska (which one of the other Betas on this board has said is one of the best greek chapters he's ever seen) are 114 years old, getting our start in 1888. We were restructured in the Mid 90's b/c our house was really trashed and we had dropped from our ideals and our previous reputation. We've definetly come back strong as evidenced by the accomplishments we had in the past semester. Right now our house has 82 actives and my one pledge brother who didn't make grades. Our chapter house, which you can take a virtual tourof, has a capacity of 60. My pledge class has 24 guys. We won Homecoming Lawn Display competition, as well as Overall Homecoming, and also got second in Kappa Kappa Gamma's "kappa Kickoff soccer tournament", first in Alpha Xi Delta's Kareoke (sp?) Kraze, and first in Delta Gamma's Anchor splash. Our house also won Grades among the Fraternities this past semster with a house GPA of 3.403

There are a couple of articles that have been posted here on Greek chat about my house. One is about our Housemom and the other about our mentoring program with an elementary school. I think both are in the Beta forum under the thread "Some positive Beta Exposure".

Anyway, keep up the good work at ZH, and if you come to convention perhaps we could meet...

We're pretty active on campus. At least two of the brothers are on IFC, one brother who is alumni is running for a position on Associated Students.
Last semester we won AOPi's Mr. Fraternity for the second straight year, and a couple of weeks ago we came in third for KD's Shamrock Showcase (we were first for the last two years, third time did not come out to be the charm).
We're holding Nap-A-Thon in a few weeks.

Thats all I can think of for now.

Hey guys,

Welcome Beta Skwared. As Jerry Blesch once said, B-cubed: "Beer, Beta and Babes"......Sorry I didn't respond earlier, I was in Mexico the past week.

Anyway, Oshkosh Betas (Zeta Zeta Chapter) have just cracked the 60 man mark with 21 initiates in the Fall, and 5 new pledges this spring (total of about 67 now, largest on campus and in our history). We have had a really tough time with academics in our short history (sames as ZH, about 7 years), and only landed a 2.39 this past semester. The chapter is taking strong steps in correcting this matter....anyway, we are the largest at UWO, probably the most active on campus (IFC, student Govt., CITY Govt. & COUNTY Govt., Intramurals...etc), and we are busting our a$$es right now to get a new house. The house we live in now sleeps 6 men, but the chapter has fundraised a ton of cash, and we hope to buy a bigger nicer house soon. We are looking at properties in the 200,000 - 300,000 range. The houses here are small, so when we get our new one, it should be the best by far.

Oh well, take care guys. Hopefully more Betas will join in.

I wish I was able to go to Institute, but unfortunetly my summer job isn't going to allow me to. Perhaps next summer. But I'll definetly be at Convention - seeing that it's in my home town of KC, I'd be crazy not to.

But anyways, were sending three guys to Institute, 1 to Wilderness challenge, and 2 to UIFI. I may actually try to go to UIFI next summer more than anything else. Of course everything is up in the air so who knows.

Hey boys... just thought i'd throw in my two cents... hang in there dude, it is ALL worth it. Hold over must be hard, one of my pledge brothers was a hold-over, although his strength brought us through. Best of luck, it's all about Beta. Let's go Canada!

Cool At last...

Hello everyone

A few months ago I posted, saying I was a pledge at Beta Theta Pi in SJSU for the second semester due to grades. Well, I finally made grades and was initiated last week. I feel awesome and just wanted to say I am very proud to be part of such an excellent fraternity.

Beta-skwared...Congratulations brother.

It is definetly a testament to your desire to be a Beta that you went through with a hold over period. Again Congratulations.

Remember to live by the three and seven everyday, and Wooglin will smile upon you! Really, if you get a chance, reread through the ritual and find out what it truely means, as it is the genius of John Reily Knox and the other seven "of ever honored memory". The best part of our ritual is that it can be applied to your daily life.

Again congratulations and welcome to the brotherhood!

yours in

Beta-Skwared,

Congrats on becoming one of the elite. As BetaRulz! recommended, take another look at the ritual book on your own time and get to know it. I am sure that everything you witnessed is somewhat of a blur, but the more you get to know it, the better it becomes.

Tell Kris, one of your grad. student brothers, that I say hello. I met him at MOP this summer. Hes a great guy!
