Exactly how important are recs at UA?
Ok guys, I have a dilemma...I went to the panhellenic weekend in April at Alabama. I have all my recs for all the sororities except for two that I really liked--the Chi O house and the Pi Phi house. I'm scared I'll get dropped during rush if it's down between a girl who has a rec and me! For all of you who have gone or go to Alabama or other schools, is it really that important? Thanks again for the advice!

Hey Bamabound! I'm going to UA this fall too, and from what I've heard, you pretty much HAVE to have a rec to get a bid. I'm in a similiar situation, I still don't have recs to 2 sororities and one of them is one that I've heard such good things about! I didn't go to Panhellenic weekend though, I wish I could have gone, I feel like I missed out on a lot! Did you enjoy it?

Recs are VERY important at Alabama. You cannot get a bid without one. I'll email you.

I have another question about recs at UA. Does it matter where the alum went to school? I mean would a rec from a woman who was a sorority member at UA be any more "valid" than a rec from someone who attended some other college?

For Chi Omega- it does not matter what school the alum went to (for the recruitment information) - as for UA - I'll leave that up to people who attend the school. Like I said in another post- highschool faculty can fill out the form but you still need the two alum signatures. I hope this helps!! Sue

Wine&BLue(or any other fellow girls familiar w/ UA sororities)---do you know all the sororities on UA's campus?? I'm trying to figure out which ones I need Also, I just found out a friend of the family is/was a PiPhi. She offered to write me a rec. Is there a form she needs to fill out when she sends it in, or is just a letter ok?? She's not real sure what to do!!!! Please help me!! Thanks I would of e-mailed you, but your e-mail isn't listed. Thanks again,
Liz

oh yeah Wine&blue one more question. Ok, I got the rec. form for PiPhi from the national(or whatever) website. But, it won't let me find out indiviual chapter addresses. Do you think it's possible you could get that for me and e-mail it to me?? It would mean so much. On the website you have to be a member to access that kind of stuff. Thanks ahead of time. Liz

Dear Worriedsenior:
Good question!! I would think the more recs the better and I'm sure each organization has a ton of alumns working in the background of recruitment to put the two recs together and approve. I did not mean to scare you with the "2" alum requirement- if you have only one- our Nationals --I'm sure others do too -will work very hard to get you your second signature - no matter who you are! sue
