What Up COMM Majors!!!
I'm a communication major at SDSU. I want to go into public relations. SDSU is a great school for communication...the only problem is that there are soooooooo many people trying to get into the program that it takes forever to get classes. I'm on the 5 year plan now, and if I don't get my classes like I should, then I will be on the 5+ year plan...lol.

I was a speech & communicaton major (w/ a minor in music). I took a variety of courses (from theory to radio & tv production) 'cause I didn't know what I wanted to do. (Still don't, exactly!)
There are a lot of options w/ the major!!

Communications was one of my majors (other two were poli sci and history). I'm starting law school in the fall.
Communications has given me a good background in working with others and getting my messages across clearly. No matter what job field you enter, it can help you greatly.

Print journalism major (as well as a history major) - not quite sure what I'm going to do with it yet, but I've done a lot of newspaper writing in the past.

I'm a Communications Public Relations major. I want a job in advertising, but I'd have to minor in Marketing. And why, oh why, do you have to go up to calculus for marketing? I'm horrible at math and barely understand advanced algebra and geometry. Grrrrrrrr. It is because of math that I cannot do what I actually want to do.

Ha ha! We have so much in common. I'm in a very similar situation. Because, I can't even pass "math 101", I can't major in marketing. I have to minor in marketing instead, which requires less math. I'll settle for advertising.

I was a Radio and Television Production Major (BECA for all the SFSU Gators out there ). I *loved* my major! It gave me a completely different perspective on things when I went to law school, than the usual pre-law, poli-sci majors you see as a 1L.

Phi Beta is a professional GLO that incorporates all creative & performing arts, and comm is included in that! (Anything from the study of communicative disorders to film making). Our Alpha Epsilon chapter at the University of Houston is almost entirely comm majors! We were originally founded as a fraternity uniting music & speech.
I checked out the PFA website & found Pi Sigma Epsilon, which is a sales & marketing GLO. That was the closest thing I found aside from Phi Beta.

I'm a public communication major (PR) with a minor in political science.. we actually have to have a minor for our PR program. Hopefully I'll be doing the 5 year BA/MA program in PR here as well.

I was a communication studies major in college, with a public relations emphasis. I now work as a corporate communications director and love it! My greek experiences definitely helped me get a few jobs because of the skills I learned, too!
