Resume Question

I have a question about my daughters resume. On a website that was linked to on here, the writer stresses the importance of having the resume printed on nice resume paper. We just had it printed on regular paper. Will this reflect poorly on my daughter? This never would have occured to me but this woman, who seems to be quite knowledgeable, really stressed its importance. She has a few packs to still be handed out, should we have them reprinted on thick paper?

I would not worry about it. I would think the expensive, resume paper would be most important when applying for a job.

I agree with FSUZeta. I have written recs for girls who have provided resumes on plain paper and also those who have gone over-the-top with their packets. While the packets with frills (I include expensive paper in this category) may catch my eye, I put forth the same effort for each. What the resume reflects about her experience and abilities is much more important.

Good luck to your daughter!

Regarding online/email resumes:

Photo - attached as a separate attachment or embedded in the resume? Daughter has been been submitting as a separate attachment but I was curious.

Indeed. The resume isn't even forwarded to the chapter in some cases.

Perhaps Snowflake has some debilitating disease that prevents her from utilizing the internet?

Ditto on the PDF & JPG electronic documents. There is too much paper in my RL job.

I think resume paper is kind of last century. When was the last time you presented a resume in hard copy form? Even just going through a job search I never printed my resume once.

I think it depends on the field/situation. I'm a teacher who is often on the hiring committee. When we interview for positions it doesn't look so great when the applicant doesn't have copies of their resume. You can copy a resume for very little money at Staples or the like instead of buying an expensive pack.
