NUmber of PNM

How can you find out the number of PNM's registered for recruitment at a certain school?

If you're signed up for recruitment, your Recruitment Counselor may be able to give you the numbers or a ballpark figure. Just curious: Is there a reason you're concerned?

My advice: relax and don't think about the number of women participating.

Honestly, yes I've been stressed out about it. I'm trying to not let it get to me.

Don't be stressed. There is essentially a place for every woman so freaking out that there are a lot of people registered is silly. You just end up with bigger pledge classes (except at the one school with bed quota.)

Really, quota is based on the number of women attending the preference rounds. The system is set up so that as many women as possible receive bids.

Granted, there are some who do not make it to Preference, and there are people who withdraw when they aren't happy with their invites, etc. but in general, the average PNM who makes it to Pref, is open-minded and maximizes her options has a good chance to receive a bid.

I feel your pain, but let it go. None of the numbers stuff matters. Go do something fun, go to a movie, get some exercise, anything to get out of your head for awhile.

And to correct AOII Angel, at Nebraska each chapter sets their own quota, so I suppose it could be lumped with IU. But I've never gotten the impression that Nebraska was overly competitive, so never mind.

That is so strange, too.

A friend of mine's daughter was dropped completely at UGA and because of what she's heard about RFM from one very strong chapter, she is convinced that the system just couldn't accommodate all the girls going through. I have no interest in correcting her since it would seem to reflect on her daughter more, but I wonder how much that plays into people's fears about huge PNM groups.

If the very strong chapter wants to cut like crazy and have a smaller class, that's THEIR choice. Other chapters will be glad to have the women they cut.

33, if you are responding to me, I guess I didn't communicate well. The girl I was talking about was dropped by everyone.

Her mom attributes it to the chapters not having place for everyone because the mom believes that all chapters have to release PNMs at the same rate, a rate that only the very highest return rate chapters actually have to use.

Well, if she wants to live in that alternative universe, let her.

Possible reasons to be dropped by everyone:
*Grades not as good as PNM thought they were
*PNM has a poor reputation and mom doesn't know
*PNM comes from a town so tiny that no sorority alum ever heard of it much less lives there, and PNM has no friends, no relatives, no teachers, (and nor do her parents) who were Greek at any time and thus has no recs.
*PNM froze at each and every party and mumbled one-word replies
*PNM suffers from "pretty good" syndrome: grades, activities, looks are all pretty good, but nothing outstanding.
*Sorority girls are crazy and anything can happen during rush
Just a few ideas...

I'd add PNM is below average is physical appearance compared to general PNM pool. And I'm embarrassed to admit of what percentage of cuts I think that accounts for because of course we're all about sisterhood, right?
