Picture question for sorority process!
I'm planning on rushing at the University of Texas and many of the sororities ask for more than one picture. I was wondering if it asks for 2 portraits, can I send two copies of one picture or do they have to be two separate pictures?

My understanding is (and I could be wrong .. if I am someone please correct me) that the chapters want 1 head picture and 1 full body picture.

According to the local panhellenic alumnae association, every chapter wants something different. Some chapters want up to four pictures. Do you know if it says two portraits, if they can be the same picture copied?

Not in a sorority, but if I were you, I'd heed the advice of doing the head shot and full body shot.
It's general advice not to push the boundaries on anything unless it's of unreasonable inconvenience. I don't see what's so difficult about putting on a dress and having a friend take a couple nice pictures.

Call the people running recruitment at University of Texas and ask them directly. Check online for the Panhellenic website for UT.

Where does it say it would be an inconvenience? I think she was just asking for clarification.

That's not the problem... I'm just trying to make sure that what I send to the sorority is right..

So for 10 sororities, you could need 40 different and unique pictures? Say WHAAAAT??
I think something has been lost in translation here.

I thought she meant that she'd need a total of 4 pictures, since one (or more) of the chapters request that many.
I read the "want something different" comment as "ABC want 2 pics, DEF wants 1, GHI wants 4"

Best overall advice is to have two photos. One headshot. One full length. Nothing too overdone or over the top. Make sure they actually look like you will look when coming through recruitment (no big hair and makeup changes etc.)

Damn, sororities are way more demanding elsewhere. Headshots are nice, but four pictures? wtf

Alas, I'm no longer doing recs for UT - - but our panhellenic asks for 2 good pictures - head shot and full-length - but that is 2 per packet. Our pnms fill out a packet for each chapter represented on our Panhellenic and the packets go to the individual sorority rec chairmen. I can't imagine why anyone would need more pictures than that. Also bear in mind - no pets, no multiple friends in a pic, no boyfriends, no lying on the railroad tracks (yes, we got a picture like that a few years ago - you don't want to be train girl).

Man, I always say its an act of God I got into a sorority. I knew nothing going into it. My picture was one of me feeding ducks! I wonder if they called me duck girl. Haha.

Last year I got a recommendation packet from a Texas alumna for a hometown girl going out for recruitment.
The packet had a sheet with 4 separate pictures, all different. Two were pretty much face-to-waist, different poses and outfits, and two were full body in different poses and 1 outfit that was the same as one of the close-ups. Nice Sunday-type dress, casual-but-dressy, and nice jeans and nice top.
She also included a sheet with about a dozen different pictures of the girl at some sort of Christmas party with underprivileged kids.
The resume pages were tied with a colorful fabric bow.
Yeah, those Texas recommendations are over the top, and always have been. I've heard of pizzas delivered to a sorority house with a candidate's face on the box lid, a giant popcorn tin plastered with face and name ...these were sent by the sorority alumnae.
33girl, this is not "40 different and unique pictures" for 10 sororities. It would 4 different and unique pictures. A set of these would be sent to the 10 sororities. It IS confusing if you're not familiar with the practice.
Yes, Greys darlin', you were probably "Duck Girl." Not a bad thing...at least they remembered you!
