rush outfit

hello,

I will be rushing at UT Austin in a few weeks. I don't have any idea of what I should wear. I paste the links of what my dresses will look like.

philantropy day 1

http://www.lillypulitzer.com/product...ink+Line+Em+Up

for the day 2, I will try to find something else.

skit round

I suggest this thread for some great ideas of what to wear: http://www.greekchat.com/gcforums/sh...d.php?t=115173

Your second and third dresses aren't my personal style, but they could be okay if they won't be too short, too tight, or show too much cleavage on you. You want to look classy and pretty, and not trashy in the least. You also want people to remember how wonderful YOU are, not whether your dress was too short or too loud or too cheap-looking or too ... whatever.

The first dress, though, I'd scratch for sure. It's a terry cloth beach cover-up robe. It's an expensive one from a well-known label, but ... it's a terry cloth beach cover-up robe.

Lilly is very common for girls to wear on philanthropy days but I'm not sure if the terry fabric would be best. You want to be a tad more dressy.

Your skit and preference dresses are cute as long as they don't show too much skin/cleavage.

Remember you are dressing to impress girls! So add cute shoes and jewlery and you should be set.

I am rushing this year as well, so I'm not really in a position to tell you what would be good or not. However, I received some good advice from an alumna while I was shopping for my pref dress and thought I'd pass it along.
Whatever you decide on, make sure that you feel comfortable in it. If you are confident in what you are wearing, you will be more focused on the conversation and less on how your outfit looks!

I think the Lilly is way too casual. Also, it was pointed out in another thread that sleeveless could lead to a really embarrassing wardrobe malfunction!

And I agree with the other posters, the other dresses aren't MY style, but I'd make sure that they aren't too tight, too short, or too revealing. This is when you should be your classiest.

I am by no means a Texas expert, but absolutely no to the first dress. I'm fairly certain it's meant to be a cover up. This is part of the description: "The perfect summer stripe in the comfiest French terry make for a flawless cover-up. The elevated gold grommets, front tie, and pockets make this a beach must-have!"

I just saw this link on another "what to wear" thread and they have some really cute dresses that would be appropriate for UT recruitment. Although Lilly is very popular at UT, I agree with everyone here that the one that you posted is too casual.
Good luck! Just two more weeks!

Princess, first off I never reply to these things, but I love that you're trying to listen to everyone's advice! I think you're on the right track. Take my recommendations with a grain of salt (been awhile since i was at UT!) because most of it is based on my personal style. Plus, I throw out everything that has beads or is strapless...

Philanthropy...sundress...casual but stylish. Think of a simple cotton sheath in a cute color. Of the choices you gave, I liked these:
http://www.dillards.com/product/M.S....null/affiliate
http://www.dillards.com/product/Sanc...null/affiliate

Skit or Pref - a little dressy for philanthropy?
http://www.dillards.com/product/THML...null/affiliate

Skit...a little dressier than Philanthropy, but not evening wear... Think same sheath, but in a darker color. More casual fabric than pref, but darker color than Philanthropy. I didn't really find anything that totally qualified in what you gave.

Pref...Little black dress...simple (no beading) and stylish. Classic.

My daughter and I both thought that skit dress is really cute from the front, but the back is pretty open/tricky to wear a bra with. So, I'm not sure.

When our good friend went through at UT, she looked for a cute dress that you might wear to a wedding for skit night or a cocktail party that was not glitzy or sparkly.

Others from UT can correct me, as I am not super sure. Don't pnms wear black on pref so a non-black classic lines cocktail dress would work for skit?
