On a more serious note.......
Today I read a article in our school newspaper that I was pretty disturbed by. A 21 year old was found dead in our university apartments, possibly from a drug overdose or complications with medications. We shared some of the same personal problems.
I've been going to this school since fall of 1999 and nothing like this ever happened. I am very shooken up by this. Has something like this ever happened at your school? If so, how did you cope?

Actually yeah something similar happened on our campus last year. A freshman guy was found dead in his room, and the sad thing is no one ever said what happened! Rumors flew like wildfire. I heard everything from hazing overdose to a severe allergic reaction. Well I didn't know him, but my way to cope was to talk to my friends about my own fears. I think talking is always the best way.

SH80er, if you shared some of the same personal problems, may I ask how YOU are doing? Please don't identify with the sad situation too much. Things like that can get stuck in your head and play over and over. The truth is, as we get older, things keep happening and most of us aren't prepared (is anyone ever prepared?) As a child, you lose friends to disease or accidents.
Then as you get older, your Grandparents are often taken or as seen on this board, suicides happen. I am at the stage where my friends are losing their parents or caring for them in their homes. It's seems too simplistic to say it all part of life, but that's exactly what it is. So, everyone, make the most of each day and be kind. Help another and let others to help you.

find a friendly ear
you need to find someone you can talk to. if you are feeling poorly, you might look into your campus mental health center. you need to work on getting a perspective together to help you handle the tough times because bad things happen to good folks now and then.

Not once, but twice, we had fraternity houses burn down at our campus, and 8 people died as a result. There is nothing like it being the night before Homecoming weekend and you hear that XYZ's house is burning to the ground. It was the most horrendous thing I've ever seen and dealt with during college. Instead of building floats and celebrating, we had candlelight vigils and made food for the surviving brothers. To this day, I still cry when I drive past that plot of land, which has nothing built on it.
If you're feeling a bit mixed up with all of this SH80, I highly recommend talking to a campus counselor. That's why they are there, and they can be of great help. If they can't provide you with the help you need, they will refer you to someone who can.
Chin up ((hugs))

Ahh, I am doing a LOT better since I typed that. I don't know for how long though. I'm making some adjustments in my living, and it has helped so far.

I talked to several friends about it. I feel better now that I got it off my chest.

Arrgghh, I feel like crap right now. By tonight I'll be on top of the world. I just wish I knew what is causing these wild mood swings.
