Question....
Is it me or does it seem like the SAME questions are being asked over and over again, LATELY?
I think that there have been several discussions in this forum regarding BGLOs, BGLOs and legacy, why "we" do this and why "we" don't do that, what we will or will not talk about...
Maybe there have not been discussions in here before, maybe it's deja vu, a dream or something... NOT!
One can go back and see where topics have been discussed previously, that way, one cannot "open a can of worms".

I totally agree that some of the questions have been asked too often lately. I just wish I could find the post that perfectly explained why NPC/NIC/NPHC GLOS are so different. It was the one that explained about the societal differences that led to it. And I don't mean white/black thing. But upper crust society thing.

It's natural that they are different since they all have different purposes, missions, focuses and histories. If you visit the umbrella organizations websites and individual organizations, you will see the differences. I visited the NPC website and their mission and focus is very different from a NPHC IMHO. Also, their differences have been discussed before. In fact, I remember a post explaining what each umbrella organization is. That post was very helpful because I never knew what NIC and NPC stood for.

I'm probably going to get a lot of flack for what I'm about to say, but I'm sure most of the regulars(especially the moderators will agree with me)
If the new people who come to GC would just do a SEARCH, then most if not all of their questions will be answered. All they have to do is scroll down the page and it's all there.
Now if a person post a question for clarifcation, that's one thing. But to post "Why don't NPHC and NPC organizations allow to to pledge another org after you have been initiated?" when we have talked about this topic to death is just madding. Just do a SEARCH. It's not hard.
Come on everybody say it with me:
DO A SEARCH!!
(ok,end rant)

No flack from me, I AGREE.
To add to this, after a search has been performed and the appropriate threads are found, if the posts do not fully answer the question, reopen the SAME thread, don't start a new one!
Maybe it's just me, but it took me almost a month to read all the past threads before I made my first post. If you don't know the vibe in a room, how can you make a meaningful contribution?
I'm done.

I agree, a lot of questions are being recycled over and over. However, I think part of the problem stems from the fact that a lot of new people come to Greek Chat every day, and they don't know what has been discussed before (some topics are days, weeks or months old).
(Side Bar: come August/September, Rush related questions will cropping up all over the place...it is a "seasonal" thing, I feel).
As much as it tries our patience, we need to (politely) steer these people towards the "Search" function, or time permitting, find the links for them and help them out a bit, so that people feel welcome to our board (provided that they conduct themselves appropriately). Remember a lot of newcomers are would-be freshman who are looking for pointers on what to expect vis-a-vis the recruitment procedure (whether it be NPC, NPHC or NIC), Greek Life in general, and other aspects of college life.

I totally agree w/ everyone. I haven't really been coming in the Greek life section b/c it's the same posts over and over again. I was thinking that perhaps John (if you're listening/reading ) you could put some kind of message on the intro page of Greekchat telling all new posters about the Search function. I know when I first started posting, I didn't realize there was a search function...I just started reading what I could find! So maybe some kind of GIANT note to let new users know about the Search thing and to search FIRST before posting questions.
Happy Posting!

I agree somewhat that there will be a lot of questions about rush come August. However, I do know that the moderator for that forum has provided a special link that answers many of the questions that most people have about all that goes into Rush. So to me there is no excuse (and remember this is coming from a non-greek) why people can't find the answers to some of their questions.

You know, I think the issue is more like the answer interests get are not the ones they are looking for. Since they didn't like that answer, they just repost the same ol' same ol'. They just cain't hep demselves... Oh well.
I agree with you, Cutie with the politeness. It's very hard to gracious when you get asked a stupid question over and over again. What to do, what to do...

See -- we can all agree on some things every now and again !
Do a SEARCH people -- here let me help...
For "Pinning" check out "Lavaliere" or "Dropping"
For BGLO info - search not only Greek Life, but also the AKA and Delta forums.
For questions about "What is SO-AND-SO frat/soro like?" -- read the 4 million other posts , or go directly to that forum and ask -- if you REALLY must ask at all.
Do your searching - it will make us ALL a lot happier

Yeah, but really, this could be the end of greek chat, b/c the new topics are getting limited......
