Sigma Nu to recolonize at the University of Kansas
In case you missed it from the front page.
http://www.kansan.com/stories/2007/m...sigma_nu/?news
They were gone for 2 years due to hazing. Sucks that AGD has to get booted, but that house is as Sigma Nu as they get. It even sits on a road called Sigma Nu Place.

I'm sure the Gamms had fair notice.
I'm always concerned when I hear a group rents to a sorority. For some reason, those girls are always hell on plumbing.. at least according to other house corp officers I've spoken with. Speculatively, I'd have to say that the plumbing might be damaged by the girls with eating disorders, but that's just a guess.
Great to see Nu coming back.
God.. it's great to see our expansion team getting aggressive! When my colony became a chapter, we were the first new chapter in 3 years! I could rant about our oldtime colonization practices but there'd be no point. They've obviously turned things around.

Kevin,
I agree completely! They are really taking off, and I love it. You have no idea how happy I am to see some of the old-schoolers back:
- Kansas
- Arkansas
- Arizona State
- North Carolina
- LSU
Sigma Nu has always been strong; but when campuses like the ones mentioned above are strong we are pretty damn stout.
Question. I think we have a University of Central Florida founding father that posts here. I was wondering what they were doing in the way of housing? That campus seems pretty competitive, and the houses there I've seen look AWESOME.

As far as I know (I actually transferred to the Eta Lambda chapter at the University of Cincinnati recently), Mu Psi isn't any closer to getting a house... UCF has been planning Greek Park 2 for some time now, and supposedly it will be completed in 2008. Our shots of getting space there aren't very good from what I've heard since we're pretty new and are a relatively small fraternity on campus. However, there are currently 3 empty houses on campus (Sig Ep, SAE and Pike I believe), so that may open up some slots in Greek Park 2 if those houses are still empty in 2008... We'll see what happens I guess.

I think it's empty, not real sure... I know Sig Ep is. All of them got in trouble for some pretty serious hazing. I'm sure if you searched for it on the forums here you could find out more information.
I have a few pictures of the new Eta Lambda house (we're actually in the process of looking for a new house, as this one is being rented and is the cookie cutter community type house, shared with another fraternity)... I'll try and post them soon, but right now I'm actually editing photos from our formal that was last night.

Fully implement LEAD and VBR and it won't be long.

Good story on Rush at KU. I guess they do open rush, and then a formal rush. Sounds like Nu is doing fine.

I used to work for a guy who was recruitment chair for SAE at Kansas in the late '70's. He told me he would travel all over the mid-west going to peoples homes, meeting students and their parents, making presentations about their fraternity. I can't imagine making a decision about joining a fraternity because some guy flipped through a presentation on the coffee table of our living room.

haha, thats true banditone. Everybody joins a fraternity for a different reason and that is what makes rush a difficult task to create an umbrella plan for all people. And that is the reason why each house has a big stereotype because you have a lot of guys performing the actions. But that is just my opinion, you have the jocks, the good GPA, etc.... (hopefully we could be the best in all of the above in a perfect situation).

Yeah, 24 before July is an extremely large amount of pledges. However, seeing the work that is being put in first hand, I'd be disappointed with anything less. Our recruitment chairs have put in countless hours, making phone calls, going to dinners, talking to parents, giving tours etc. . . One of our recruitment chairs traveled from Lawrence to Omaha to speak with 3 guys who were interested.(all three eventually signed) It's not just the recruitment chairs either. We've had guys who live in Oklahoma recruiting in their area, KC guys in their area, and central/southern KS guys in their own areas. Not only are active members helping but we are also receiving help/recommendations from many alumni. They don't just recommend guys who would make great Sigma Nus but also make phone calls to those who still need persuading. The whole colony has put in an enormous amount of work and it is paying off. I'm extremely excited for the fall semester to come around and see the summation of our efforts.
