Name Your Phobia

I'm alone in my townhouse tonight and there is a cockroach!!!!

I am TERRIFIED of bugs, (entomophobia) especially roaches. I know it's completely irrational, but it doesn't stop be from freaking out.

So what are you afraid of and would you consider it a phobia? Have you gotten over and it if so how in the world did you do it?

I'm afraid of them too. Well, not as much the regular sized ones, but the HUGE ones they call waterbugs. I can't even think about it.

I also am terrified of big moths. OH. MY. GOSH. It's the time of year when they suddenly appear in your shower or something.

Obviously I haven't gotten over it.

Are waterbugs and palmetto bugs the same thing??? We have a lot of palmetto bugs in Florida.

It doesn't matter how many times you get your house sprayed or how clean your house is, they will still get in!

I know it's strange for a guy to be afraid of bugs, but I have a big bug phobia. Small ones don't bother me, but the big ones? Oh yeah, I won't even spray them with Raid. When I do that they go nutz, and when they go nutz, I do too.

Emitophobia - fear of vomiting. I fear it as much as dying. I also fear being in the same room when someone else vomiting. That's why I don't drink excessively. I'm also rarely DD, it would not be cool if some drunkard pukes in my car! I'll help to pay for a cab, if my friends can't find another sober person to take them home.

I have the exact same fear....I can't stand it when a kid pukes at school..I shudder to think about it.

Me too! I always wondered what it was called. It was my biggest fear about getting pregnant - would I have morning sickness?! Luckily, I didn't! I am nervous about the dealing with a puking kid thing, though...Guess I have 3 months to get over that...

Also hate roaches, they make me nauseous. However, all you Floridians with your "palmetto bugs" and the NYers who call the giant ones "water bugs" - you all know those are just pretty names for cockroach. When I moved to NYC I did a lot of research on them and found those are just names people use to feel better about have a ginormous cockraoch in their home. Really not trying to make you feel worse, just giving you the facts!

I'm not afraid of spiders you can buy in a pet store or see at a zoo. Those kind are very interesting, but I'm petrified of small house spiders.

I don't like June bugs or any kind of flying beetle, because they get caught in my hair. That really freaks me out.

Yeah, I think they're the same, because I remember being in Miami over a very clean house and there were like 2 on the floor and nobody paid attention to them but everyone paid attention to me when i hopped up on the couch

ROACHES-I grew up in FL and they are everywhere. Sometimes they can FLY. I will never live there again for that reason and the hellish heat.

CLOWNS-I don't think I need to explain it any other way than, "If you aren't evil, why can't I see your face?". Plus John Wayne Gacy was a clown.

BRIDGES-Even high overpasses where you see nothing but sky out of the window, or high roads in the mountains. I just know I will lose control of my car and send it careening into the air, only to plummet to my fiery death.

THE DENTIST-I have to be sedated even for cleanings or I get a mild-to moderate panic attacks. Yes, I am a weenie. But they have sharp metal hooks and do have any idea how many nerve endings are in your MOUTH??!!!

Potato bugs. They scare the beejeezus out of me. I freak out if I look at one.

Don't laugh but old, slow elevators. Especially on a fall day with leaves inside the elevators. it's like a scene of a scary movie.

Also, heights.

When I was little I was scared of dogs. But I'm not scared anymore.

I am terrified of snakes. I hate them. When I taught 1st grade, another teacher would always have to walk my class through the snake house when we went to the zoo.

I really hate heights. I don't care what you say: Above the 4th floor, I swear I can feel the building move.

I am afraid of ants. I think they are going to climb in my head and eat my brains. Same thig with worms.
