Tito Santana?
Until this morning, I had absolutely no idea that Merced Solis (a.k.a. professional wrestler "El Matador" Tito Santana) is a Lambda Chi. I'm actually a bit upset with myself on this one. My younger brother and I were always fans of professional wrestling since we used to watch the Von Erichs on WCCW over 20 years ago (yes, we always knew it was fake so save your comments).
One of the wrestlers I actually didn't like was Tito Santana. I always wondered why he always had his mouth hanging open while in the ring and never really understood why he'd been so popular and given a push by WWF (now WWE) and won intercontinental and tagteam championships (Strikeforce was such an annoying team). I was always pretty happy when he lost and also laughed when future Governor Jesse "The Body" Ventura called him "Chico" and would shoot jokes at him during match commentary (i.e. "Jesse, what do you know about the Conquistadores?"... "Well, I know they have that long chain of victories down in the Mexican federations, so I figure Chico sold them some bad tacos somewhere along the line and now they're back for revenge.").
Well, due to the electronic Cross & Crescent I now know that I was cheering against a brother. No, I wasn't a Lambda Chi during my main years as a wrestling fan, but I still watched an occasional show after 1999 and still liked & disliked the same wrestlers from before. I feel a bit bad about the whole deal.
Hey, brother Solis (or Santana... whichever he goes by now); good to see that you're doing so well and I hope you're enjoying your teaching career. I think I'll buy your book today.
