Did being a transfer hurt my chances at getting a bid?

I recently rushed Sig Ep at my college, and I am a transfer sophomore in his first semester at this school. I went to all the rush events and then was invited to the invite-only formal dinner, after which members voted on potentials. I didn't get picked, and I am both heartbroken and furious, as I went to every event, tried to talk to nearly all the members, and this was my chance to get a crew in college. Maybe I am taking it a little personally, but was it that the fact I'm a transfer killed me? I am thinking that because the other potentials were all except one(who was a senior) my year, and many of the brothers were sophomores too who went to school with these guys last year. I mean it seemed that I got along well with the brothers, everyone acknowledged me on campus when I walked by, seemed to be on good terms with everyone. I dont' know what went wrong, if my height hurt my, I'm 5'2''. But I lean toward the fact I wasn't really known until rush to any of thse kids because I'm a transfer. Is that why I didn't get a bid?

I'm sorry, Lakrosse, I know that being cut from a house you wanted really can hurt. And I really don't think that anything we say here will make you feel better about it. I know you feel like you really got along well with the brothers, but the truth is that you will probably never know why you were cut. Membership selection is a secret process, and as curious as you may be (I know I'm still curious about why I was cut from a chapter when I went through rush), the truth is that no one is going to tell you exactly why you didn't get a bid. And furthermore, we on GreekChat don't know your campus culture, and we don't know where your chapter is, so we can't begin to speculate on weather or not being a transfer would hurt your chances.

But here is what I can tell you. First, I really doubt it was only your height or only the fact that you are a transfer. Perhaps the guys liked you, but didn't see you as a fit with the chapter. It happens all the time. Also, it seems like you only rushed one chapter. Perhaps if you had rushed other chapters, you may have found other who would invite you to their brotherhood.

So I'm sorry, Lakrosse, I know this blows balls for your right now, if you pardon my expression. But instead of dwelling on the fact that you didn't get a bid, go out, get involved, and you're going to find you friends and start to fit into your new college.

Membership selection is not to be talked about beyond the chapter. It's hard to say, I know transfers that have been selected over freshmen at my school. I don't know what school you're at, so I can't even comment on that.

Perhaps you did/said something that was offensive that stuck into the heads of the guys during voting?
