pref night dress- appropriate or no?

I was wondering if it is ok to wear a dress to pref night that is not black. we were told to wear a cocktail dress/semi-formal but i was wondering if i could wear a pink/peach colored dress as long as it is subtle color and it looks very nice. They told us it didn't have to be black but i don't wanna show up and everyone is wearing black. any advice?

I personally think that it is better if a PNM not wear black to pref. Many chapters will coordinate their members in black dresses so I think that it is nice if the PNM stand out a bit more and not blend in with the chapter. You probably wouldn't wear white to someone else's wedding so don't wear black to someone elses pref night.

I wouldn't wear black to prefs, because many chapters wear black. You want to stand out. PNMs at my school wore a variety of colors, I'm assuming other schools are the same.

True, most girls will wear black, just because that's what's most available in the stores. My daughter wore a beautiful ivory dress pref round. You will more likely be noticed if you do not wear black, and as long as the dress is appropriate (which you said it is,) I don't see how that can be a negative. Whatever you look and feel great in is the best choice. Especially if you already own the dress - save the money!

go with the peach dress-too many girls wear black and they tend to blend in with the sorority members. stand out is a good way ;"remember mary?...she had on the beautiful peach colored dress."

I wore a bright pink dress for my pref. My friend I was going through with was wearing white and in a picture that was taken that night we are the only two people that stand out. All of the other PNMs blended into the background.

Definitely wear the peach dress!

Go with the peach dress. You'll stand out just that little bit more.
